Morales in his prime was the epitome of a boxer puncher.

The way he'd put together the straight punching combos.

      Haven't seen that one.

I don't remember who said it, but he said that the nickname "Lights Out" was not warranted or something like that.

The greatest crowd I've ever seen was that Tijuana mob that was watching Morales when he had to become a puncher in order to get past Junior Jones.

I think that fight is the perfect example of what prime James Toney was capable of. Starching a top, undefeated, talented contender like he was nothing. It was very impressive.

Edit: Oh, and whoever said that is familiar with the Toney of new. Meaning that when he actually earned the nick, dude probably wasn't paying attention.

Most dangerous Heavyweight to have ever laced up gloves.

Meaning he had a better chance at beating anyone than anyone else did. In fact I lol@ people with the "Ali would have rope a doped Lewis".

Flicking the jab and following the right on Ali's face.

That Junior Jones fight was ****ing sick. Damn the HBO guy who decided to switch camera angles at the second of the first KD punch.

Jones was outboxing him bad at the start though... makes you wonder just how good Junior Jones could have been with a decent chin. He was beating Kennedy McKinney too IMO before he got waxed.

Lol, he was beating that Johnson fella too, fore he got laid the **** out. The main things I think of with that cat are his crazy jab, and his wide, wide shoulders.

And yeah, Erik did a good job adjusting and finally hitting the mark in that fight. Definitely shows that he's also a thinker in there.

The best boxer/puncher that I ever saw was Bob Foster. He could methodically outbox you, then suddenly take you out if you made a mistake.

Either you're a brawling warrior or you're a coward like runner.

there are such fighters that do both. they are called boxer/punchers. Oscar De La Hoya is a boxer/puncher. Rafael Marquez is a boxer/puncher. Chad Dawson is a boxer/puncher. **** even Casamayor can be considered a boxer/puncher. Stop making it black and white. A fighter doesn have to be a KO artist to make fights entertaining and a fighter can box AND be entertaining at the same time. there IS an in between. there IS a balance.
I dont really consider casamayor a boxer puncher, highly skilled yes, but that that guy definately avoids exchanges if he can. especially at his age now.

Guys would you call Joe Louis a boxer/puncher?

I'm not sure if I would. He was more like a straight up slugger.

The way he kind of stood still with the strange catching gestures and when he'd catch a punch he'd return in with a good right.
