Judah was certainly legitimate. But history will show that Gatti at 147 lbs wasn't. His record at that weight was 1-3, with all the losses being one sided KO's.

Gatti was better opposition than Mosley or Quintana?

At the time of Mayweather vs. Baldomir, I think the Judah win was better than Cotto's wins over... no one, and Margarito's win over a completely unproven Cintron and other pretty unproven fighters.

          it's not revisionist...

baldomir had like 13 KO's on his resume and plenty of L's too.

the one thing baldomir's ever had physically is the fact that only a sledgehammer could knock him out. he's all heart and volume punching aside from that- thats always pretty clearly been the case if you ask me.

nobody gave him a chance to beat floyd- even after the upsets with zab and gatti.

All those L's were at least 9 years old... KO's are worth as much as a decision win in truth.

And seriously, whose resume at 147 was better than Baldomir's at that point?

Spinks had moved up, Floyd already beat Judah, Margarito only had an unproven Cintron who had never won a championship, Cotto hadn't even fought at 147 at that point.

I just don't understand how people can say that Baldomir was undeserving.

The ONLY person who might have had a better argument was Margarito, because he had beaten so many good (not great) fighters in his long reign at 147 as the WBO champion.

Gatti was the favorite for the Baldomir fight.

Nothing. What makes him a solid pro?

He's durable as hell and he has a pretty solid right hand to go along with decent timing. Pretty much what you need to win 6-7 rounds against a not quite game Zab Judah.

I doubt anyone would call Baldomir great!!! But he was a guy who had to fight all over the world just to get his shot at the big time, and when he did get the chance he took it with both hands.
