Enzo Maccarinelli vs. Johnathon Banks For WBO Title?

Reports overseas indicate that Enzo Maccarinelli is being lined up to fight for his vacant WBO cruiserweight title in September. Enzo lost the title to David Haye in March. Haye has since vacated the belt in order to make his move to the heavyweight division. Some reports suggest that Enzo would face unbeaten Kronk prospect Johnathon Banks, but Wales Online says the opponent could also be undefeated Russian puncher Alexander Alekseev, who stopped 14 of his 15 opponents. Good for Enzo. Banks looked awful last night. If Enzo can avoid getting tagged early again then he'd outlast Banks down the stretch, maybe stop him late.

I would pick Maccarinelli to win this fight fairly easily. I haven't seen too much of Banks but what I have seen was absolutely awful.

Enzo would make mincemeat out of this clown, Banks looked appalling at the weekend, certainly no match for Enzo. IMO he did NOT win the fight against Rossito and was very lucky to get the decision, he got a draw at best IMO.

I dont think saturday's fight should be an indictment.

He was in with a tough veteran who spent half the fight retreating in a gigantic ring. Banks pressed too hard, didnt cut the ring well, and tired down the stretch. The fact that he had the resiliency to pull out the final round with the fight in the balance and all momentum in favor of his opponent says something.

Enzo is packing a glass jaw and Banks hits hard with both hands, I just hope that Banks wins so that Steward can have Wlad and JB defend their titles on the same card in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena.

Yeah I did qualify my statement by saying that I have not seen enough of Banks. Still, the rest of his stuff would want to be a whole lot better than what he showed the other night, because that was pretty terrible.

I won't count Banks out in this one, he has stamina issues but he still punches hard in both hands and Maccarinelli doesn't have the best chin.

The way Rossissito fought it would have been difficult for anyone to look good. I thought Banks did excellent in the first round and the Italian really went into a shell from there until the 6th.

I dont know if you saw the Castillo fight, but it was jerk off worthy. Banks walked into a big right hand early and was down right away. He came all the way back and stopped Castillo in the 4th

Although I have seen Banks better, im that confident that Enzo will smash him that Im prepared to take bets right now for if the fight happens.
