I think Golota's a bad first opponent too. He needs to fight someone 225 or less...

But why doesn't he take a fight with a heavyweight? He last fought in early March - most other high profile boxers who fought around that time already have fights scheduled. Wlad fought in February and again in July, and will fight Povetkin in November.

Haye says he needs to wait until November to fight again - more than eight months after his last fight. But who is he going to fight then? Shouldn't he have an opponent chosen by now?

If Haye is serious about becoming heavyweight champion, he should have a fight scheduled for no later than Sep 30. I think his bark is worse than his bite!
don't blame haye jive hyping himself. if you believe that then you may also believe khan saying he;s going to fight a top ten. then he fights gomez ranked 160. these guys! hee he.
in reality hayes people arent going to put him in there with a top ten for at least a couple fights.
      dream on

Haye should take on Barrett. He's a fairly big name and a good fighter (and dare I mention the Fields-annihilation?)

...I have been saying all along that Haye isn't going to fight anyone of significance and he is somehow going to weazle his way to a title shot without ever fighting anyone. He isn't interested in going throught the ranks because he knows he won't last. He's trying to bull**** his way to a title fight with someone.

I think a barrett fight is probably the most likely one to come of with Haye fighting the winner of Rahman vs Toney, then if he wins those 2 fight he will fight Wlad.

He'll have to swallow some camels in public if he doesn't fight some big names. He has said that he's gunning for a big name for his next fight, so something less than a ranked contender would leave the public dissapointed.

He'll choose someone he's certain to defeat in his first fight.

It won't be Barrett, since he's not shot nor a tomato can, and might expose Haye the same way he exposed Fields.

He'll perhaps choose Ray Mercer, since he can't get Oleg Maskaev.

I agree, Barrett is a good choice. Decent name value, not too big, high mileage, and can be KO'd.

....Barrett, Rahman, Toney, and Golota are all too dangerous for Haye IMO. If he fights any of those guys I will give him credit. If he wins impressively over Rahman, or Toney then I would definitely tip my hat to him. Somehow I don't see him fighting anyone that tough.
