Williams has a lot of talent but he is not skilled enough, bottom line. He had his bell rang by Margarito, what do you think a 13 pound heavier fighter, with a journeymen work rate, who has the highest KO percentage for a champ. What do you think Pav will do to Williams? Williams may be able to win but I would say he should fight him at the earliest by mid next year. Pav destroys him this year.

after pavlik kos williams, arum should stop protecting him (he dont need it) and have him fight an = fighter to him, maybe the winner of bute/andrade.

And what in your opinion determines an "=" fighter? Both Zertuche and Miranda were thought to be a step up for Pav. You don't think Taylor was an "=" fight? Both fights were close with Taylor almost having him out before being stopped himself. After two tough fights they took Lockett to get a deserved break. Abraham is tied up. He called out Calzaghe. He doesn't seem so protected to me.

Seriously. The guy has balls and confidence for days. And to be fair to him he is an excellent WW, one of the best in the game for sure.
The problem is that Kelly Pavlik is, well, King Kong at MW. And as talented and ballsy as Williams is I cant see him making the final bell.
As for Pavlik taking the fight, I think hes just the kinda guy that will take on any legit challenge and wants to be a fighting champion.

I can understand Williams taking this fight. Williams has a hard time making welterweight, the JMW is basically a dead division with no lucrative fights, so a fight with Pavlik will get him so good money. But if Williams loses to Pavlik it will be a setback towards his career. If Williams wants to be campaigning in MW he should do his best to avoid Pavlik and Abraham.

                Bad Move for Williams

I'm all for Williams moving to Middleweight. He just seems too lanky for WW and for his height the move up is a gradual one being he was at Middleweight already.

But to go up and automatically fight the Middleweight champ??? Why not fight a top contender first, then fight Pavlik? He's coming off fights with Antonio Margarito & 2 fights with Carlos Quintana and now he's going to fight Kelly Pavlik?

To his credit he has ko'd just about all his opposition at middle. Problem is, none of them were close to world class caliber fighters. Be nice to know if he got his ko's thru punching power or an accumilation of punches. I only wonder because I don't think he can overwhelm Pavlik and will need to bring some fire power if he wants to compete. Jmo.
