A lot of people are asking why Pavlik is taking the fight. This is one of those occassions when we hardcore fans know less about boxing than the casual ones, so to speak. Paul Williams is a US name, and the casual fans and beating him (if he does) will raise Pavlik's profile. Casual fans don't care about weight divisions IMO. If he gets past Williams then a Winky fight will do even better in the future, same with Mora and Abraham if they happen. Its about building an audience, and that goes for Williams as well as Pavlik.

Well we would see how many people gives him respect for beating Williams, Its easy for people to say he picked on a welterweight in 2 years time. Boxing fans are like that, I for one never believe they would actually take the fight because if he wins the wouldnt get any due.

Just like Mayweather gets slated for fighting Hatton even though they were critising him for NOT fighting Hatton before the fight was made.

          We shall see anyway.

These are two of my favorite fighters. Should be fun to watch.

I dont think anyone is disagreeing with the above post but its the response after the fight that make people wonder why? Check Mayweather/Hatton for one of the point....Before the fight "Mayweather doesnt want to fight hatton because Hatton is relentless Blah blah blah..He would take Mayweather into the trenches Blah blah blah....after the fight within 2 DAYS...." Hatton is a light welterweight" Blah blah blah.

Williams has a chance, no doubt.
