Glad to see I'm not the only one laughing at JC's phantom legacy. The guy doesn't have the stones to take a risk and show boxing heart to live up to the hype your kind wants to put on him. Kessler was by far the only fight that JC has shown he can man up and take on a challenge. Most likely his last given his last fight and scheduled next one.

Pavlik is where Calzaghe was 10 years ago. He has just won his title and has one defence. I realise you did not know about Calzaghe back then, but he did exist. Probably his resume was as good as Pavlik's is when he beat Chris Eubank! Get a sense of perspective.

Now lets take a look at what Calzaghe did in the years you obviously know nothing about.

1) Beat Robin Reid a domestic rival who had been WBC world champ a year earlier

2) Beat 28-0 Omar Sheika. Sheika never won a world title but was a Ring ranked SMW, think of Edison Miranda

3) Beat Richie Woodhall, another domestic rival who like Reid had held the WBC world title, just a year earlier

4) Beat Charles Brewer - Former IBF SMW title holder and a top 10 Ring ranked SMW

5) Beat Byron Mitchell - another former world titlist, who had taken his title from Frankie Liles.

6) Beat the living **** out of Jeff Lacy to partially unify the SMW division

7) Beats Mikkel Kessler to take another pair of SMW belts

8) Beats Bernard Hopkins to win the Ring LHW crown

In doing all of this Calzaghe has racked up a 45 fight unbeaten pro career and become the longest reigning active champion.

I never said I don't give him credit but I will not say he is this ring legend who has had an ATG career. He has fought a long time and shown great longevity and probably still has some good tough fights in him. I'm just saying the way he has handpicked his opponents and then to disregard a true threat, one he wanted mind you, is just dissapointing. You give Manfredo a shot, like he deserved one, then say Pav isn't ready yet? THAT is the **** I can't stand about JC. The man is a good boxer with an impressive span, but his notable wins over that span are far and few in between.

I keep hearing about Calzaghe in his prime, but when was that? His biggest career wins are Kessler and Hopkins, that is the prime of his career. As in right now. Back in the day he never did anything, and now he is running from the only important fight that is left out there.
Calzaghe has and is screwing up his own legacy.

I didn't like the way he tried to make Jones sound like a more dangerous fight because he's a legen either. But I agree with Joseph that at his age, with the amount of title defenses, he has a right to pick the fight he wants. There is no doubt in my mind or yours who is more dangerous, but that dosen't mean he is ducking or has to fight Pav at this point in his career.

Yeah Joe beat an over hyped "MINI MIKE" Jeff Lacy, then decided to beat a "WORLD CLASS FIGHTER" PETER MANFREDO while looking like crap (SLAP HAPPY), then took on Undefeated Kessler, and I gave joe respect for that, but he looked like crap in all 12 rounds with his slap happiness, and then Joe took on grandpa HOP looking like crap for the entire fight....... I will add out of allllllll them awesome super exciting sloppy joe fights HOW many did he KO????????? lol... why would Jones or PAVLIK have any worry from this easy hitter that likes to go all 12 rounds??????? Especially if JOE got a SPLIT over a 43 year old B-HOP after getting knocked on his ass by him.... Like you stated why would Manfredo get a chance but not Pavlik, the guy trying to take on BIG CHALLENGES LIKE A REAL CHAMP would! But the way i see it, is Joe has a REAL challenge from Jones Jr.
