How good was a Prime Morales?

Honestly looking back I can't get over how great a fighter he was.
In his prime.

Yes.. In Pac's recent interview, Pacquiao said that his weight doesn't get higher than 150 Lb.... No way it gets higher than that... He plays basketball and conditions himself everyday.. Same as Mosley, Barrera and others.. Morales just eat and eat whenever he wants.
.. During his last visit in the Philippines after the Pac fight, he weighed near 200 lbs.. L0lLast edited by MakeDamnSure; 07-12-2008, 04:21 AM.Comment

Yeah I know.
Unreal how horrible he looked compared to his prime.

This is a thread about Morales, not about Pac. He did not knock him 'out cold' either. There is a big difference between getting knocked out cold and getting knocked down. It was great, but, go talk about Pac in a Pac thread, not in a Morales appreciation thread. No one here cares about gloves, one eye or the blister on his foot or his little pinky hurting.Morales was shot at the age of 27 years old.... He fought Pac when Pac had only 1 eye due to accidental headbutt and was using winning gloves instead of Cleto Reyes and was tested for blood 2 days before the fight... Still he won only by a slim 2 point decision..
Never mind, Pac in history was the only fighter to knock him out cold whether he's prime or not.. Pac came at 108 and jumped to 130..
Back on topic: Brently said it great. He really was responsible for bringing excitement into the lower again at a time when there wasn't a lot. Every one of his early fights were great wars with skill in them. He had so many huge fights and it's impossible to pick just one as a favourite. The first Barrera fight will always be one of the greatest fights I've ever seen. I still like that better than any fight I can think of. There are just so many that are great though, like vs In Jin Chi, Chavez, Hernandez, McCullough, Zaragoza, Espadas, Jones, Kelley, etc etc. It goes on and on.
I agree with BJ as well. I really think after the Barrera fight he went down hill very quick and never fought quite the same again. He had some great fights after but then after a while basically became a shot fighter overnight. Too many hard fights. In his prime he never would have been knocked down. I remember in his fight with Chavez seeing him stunned badly for the first time ever. He was stunned quite a lot in the Barrera fight but still had the craziness then. Even Diaz knocked him down for gods sake! Though it was counted as a slip. Sad seeing a great fighter go down so quick and so badly.Comment

the only problem with Erik style, although he gave the fans much to cheer about, it burned him out quickly ...
i became a fan after pac-em 1, anyone that can do that damage to my man pac are GREAT in my book...
i would love to see what it could have been if he has fought Juan Manuel at 126...Comment

Out of Barrera and Morales, I ****s wit' Erik lol..I stay ****in wit' MOE'rales lol. Dat's my ninja, him and Juan my favorite guys below 135.
As for his skill at his prime, he kept men at the end of his punches with quick power shots and like, barrages of punches. Just non stop beastin. He was like the Mexican Wolverine lol. Give Erik some claws and watch the bloody confetti fill the air.Comment

prime erik morales at 122 or 126 would beat prime pacquiao , hamed and marquez.
he could easily beat those 3 and obviously was pretty much even with marco when they fought.Comment
