And Mayweather still would have destroyed him just as easily back then.

Hatton's prime was between 2001 and 2005, IMO. His extremely unhealthy lifestyle, blowing up between fights, binge drinking, greasy foods, combined with the amount of punishment he takes in the ring. Floyd still beats him at any point in his career, but considering his T-rex arms and height, Hatton overachieved like a mother. He's clearly on the decline, has been for a while, and obviously the Floyd fight didn't do him any good, Floyd was catching him with straight rights all night and that ring post was a sonofab@#ch. During the Tszyu fight and after, Hatton started to clinch a lot more, though the first four rounds of the Urango fight weren't bad.

All in all a decent fighter that probably should retire, though I guess a big fight with the smaller Pacquiao would be hard to turn down. I don't think he makes it past Malignaggi at this point though.

Im glad people watched this. It really showed Ricky does have skills, he was excellent that night.

He did change for the Tszyu fight and mauled more because if you give Tszyu space, you're royally ****ed. But yeah he seemed to get stuck in that mauling style for his next few fights, barring the first half of the Urango fight where he looked really sharp again.

Frank Warren really ****ed him about around this time cos Tackie had just been in with Tszyu and Mitchell but Hatton arguably did a much better job than either of them. He was ready for the big time then and was promised/signed to fight Vivian Harris, Kelson Pinto and Mitchell. Instead Warren ended up giving him Dennis Holbaek Pedersen and Carlos Vilches.

comparing that ricky hatton to this ricky hatton is damn near night and day.

he's out of his prime OR the massive weight gain and weight loss has taken a toll on him.

the ricky hatton of then WOULD (as opposed to what another poster said) have made the floyd fight MUCH tougher...maybe he wouldnt have won still but it would have for sure (for sure in my opinon that is):

                  A) went the distance

                  B) Been closer on the scorecards

this is partly why i say paulie will beat him.

Look at present hatton when he fought lazcano...hatton (as in the hatton that fought tackie) would have put lazcano away in 4 rounds or better...

you never notice how far gone a boxer is until you compare him to one of his eariler fights...

hatton is still a top fighter in my opinion none-the-less.

For one, this is ben tackie hes in front of. For two, you have to ask yourself what ben tackie has done his whole career other than be very good at taking a good shot and going the distance. Hatton has always looked good against this type of flat footed opposition. Keep in mind, i am not dissing hatton, but come on, you cant use this fight as a template to what "would have happened" because it doesnt matter. he should have and could have fought mayweather when he was supposedly so much more skilled and at 140, but they chose not to and him and his team know why. there is no need to even speculate, hatton would likely get beat worse at 140 as mayweather was fast, opened up even more and had more power.
