John Murray a Rising Star, Crushes Meager in Five

John Murray (25-0, 13KOs) is proving to be a rising star in the lightweight ranks, crushing Lee Meager (21-3, 8KOs) in five-rounds to win the vacant (BBBofC) British lightweight title at the Robin Park Centre, in Wigan, Lancashire. [details]

    Murray vs Khan

Murray looked great last night - he's definitely a potential prospect. Personally I would love to see him against Khan some time SOON, hopefully Khan steps up this time instead of ducking him until someone else does the job for him (like he did with Thaxton). I do think Khan has great ability going forward, but his avoidence of big hitters suggests an element of the glass chin and no matter how much defense you teach the boy, you can't teach chin. Murray is great defensively so it would be interesting to see who comes out on top in that one as to who is the best lightweight prospect. And whilst Murray can punch, he's not a one punch KO artist so perhaps Khan might go for this domestic dust-up before having a crack at the world stage? I wouldn't like to pick the winner though...

Whenever I see Murray and England I immediantly think John Murray the Tennis guy that got destroyed by Nadal ¬_¬

That's why i was shocked when I saw Murray wanted to fight Khan I was thinking "its not even the same sport!"

lol That's Andy Murray, and he's very Scottish. Very. He still might have a chance of stopping Khan though...

He looks pretty slow and average to deal with kahn, in my opinion.

              Murray Vs Khan

As I said I wouldn't stick my neck out and say Murray would win, I just think it'd be an interesting match with Khan's offense vs Murray's defense. Khan needs to beat a few genuinely domestic-rated fighters and stop getting knocked down by naturally smaller opponents before he thinks about going for world honours. And I would stick my neck out and suggest Frank Warren feels the same. I can't think of many British fighters other than Murray who'd be a risk to Khan to be honest.
