    2) It's not like he has all that much time to improve. Guy has 40+ fights.

    3) His resume is weak as it is. He really needs to step up his comp to be considered even top 10.

    4) He is not american and therefore not as well known.
I think he is a good choice. I think he will probably beat everyone at SMW and very likely at LHW too. Where you don't think he is good, I genuinely think he is one of the worlds best boxers. I agree he may find it difficult to make the matches that would get him up there.

As for point 4) I don't see what that has to do with it!

All that does rely on him actually being able to make fights though...

Other options are Pac, who arguably is already the P4P king, and if he were to beat Hatton at 140 would have done incredible things.

If Cotto gets past Margarito (which I think he will) then I don't see anyone who would beat him for a while, but he'd have to fight Williams and then I guess move up.

Williams himself would not be a bad shout if he were to beat Cotto or even Pavlik at 160.

And of course, Floyd will probably come back....

Ultimately though I don't think any of the guys I named are really even close to Mayweather/ RJJ skill levels, apart from Pacquiao maybe, so I'd say that P4P is going to be taking a step down from the heights in the near future.
i actually like kessler and i think he is good fighter but some make him out to be great when the real big fights and biggest challenges besides calzaghe are yet to come

Well, he isn't all that well known over here, which would cause him some trouble in landing big fights.

Also, P4P is as much a popularity contest as much as it is about boxing skill.

Where did I say he was great? I merely said I expect him to beat everyone else in his division, which I do. I also think he would beat Chad Dawson. Since I think this, I think he has a good P4P future, which is the point of the thread.

Don't you have to be great to top the P4P list?

Well that is true, but are we talking about making the correct decision or just the probable one.

I actually don't think that Kessler is the BEST choice, I'd say Cotto is, because he is already high on the list, is young and I'm not seeing anyone that I think would beat him. Except of course Floyd Mayweather, which clouds the picture considerably, if he ever comes back.

Maybe I need to look for someone much younger, and in that case I don't really know the answer. Not Gamboa anyway!
