Unlike many simplistic Calzaghe cynics whom call him a ***** for not fighting his 2nd preference but his 1st, I actually credit Pavlik as rightly brave and would fight almost anyone I think, though that's quite a cliche. He more just doesn't have enough input into his own career, which unfortunately could be seen as equally weak.
The Abraham fight needs to be made as it would prove who the undisputed middleweight champion is.If the fight doesn't happen after the Williams bout then you can call foul play.Kessler would be the second best choice on paper but the Calzaghe fight would of silinced the critics if he won, which is unlikly and wouldn't of tarnished his reputation as much as a Kessler loss. The calzaghe fight would of also been a good payday for pavlik where the Kessler fight wouldnt of been as marketable.{someones 0 has to go} When and if Pavlik beats Abraham a move up to supermiddle would be the best move.If that happens Pavlik should face Kessler.

i wouldn't count williams out completely. obviously he is a huge underdog if the fight happens but he has natural attributes that are difficult for any fighter to deal with.

and if he loses, well thats just obvious

I third that one. **** Pav isn't doing much but getting a payday when it comes to this one.

Many of you seem to be forgetting that Paul is a southpaw with super long arms and who throws a million punches and Pavlik has only ever fought one southpaw and had trouble landing against him (McKart)

Wow I don't know why Williams is leaving Welterweight but it should be a great fight! A big risk for both fighters...

IMO, Kelly KO's him in the middle rounds. HBO is certainly interested in this fight. Why? They want Kelly to fight Williams and then want him back in the ring against Joe Calzaghe LIVE on HBO. HBO is very interested in KELLY, they probably believe JOE CALZAGHE, WIN or LOOSE to JONES will fight KELLY next. Unless of course the rematch clause is certain. A PAVLIK CALZAGHE fight will make HBO lots of money, as the fighters too....

Im impressed that Paul Williams is considering this fight...even if he loses i don't think I'll be able to fault him for jumping up to MW to fight the undisputed champion. Big risk huge reward for Paul, worst comes to worst he goes back to WW and has a good shot at beating the best at 147...
