Man,i gota respect Paul Williams for even thinking about taking this fight, this is a HUGE HUGE risk, but say,say the moving up in weight actually done Paul Williams good, and he actually won, that would be amazing in the boxing world

Well its possible, and judging from these boards, its the most likely outcome! Maybe I'm wrong but I look at Williams and see a guy who is faster than Pavlik, can match him for workrate and if he boxes as he did in the first half of the fight against Margarito, is not there to be hit. I dunno, perhaps I'm crazy.

Oh come on dude, they have to dump their belts all together and sit by the phone hoping that will suddenly make Pavlik fight him? What kind of technical excuse is that. They've called him out and Arum and Pavlik have hardly said they'll fight either of them the fight after next, let alone the one after.Comment

If Williams wins he'll be thrusted into the elite P4P best discussion almost immediately.
The problem is, there's no way that Williams can win.

If Arum was in negotiation with Frank Warren to fight Calzaghe what makes you think he wouldn't put him in there with Abraham or Kessler.Pavlik would fight anyone,he has said this many times,he was the underdog in the Taylor and Miranda fights and once again prevailed. He will eventually get in the ring Abraham as it is the biggest money fight at middleweight. If he moves up to supermiddle the most logical choice would be Kessler.
Unlike many simplistic Calzaghe cynics whom call him a ***** for not fighting his 2nd preference but his 1st, I actually credit Pavlik as rightly brave and would fight almost anyone I think, though that's quite a cliche. He more just doesn't have enough input into his own career, which unfortunately could be seen as equally weak.Comment

Not a wise decision by Williams, he should move up to 154 and fight Mora for the 154lb title. I don't think Williams should be fighting at welterweight anymore either, guys like Judah, Clottey, and Cotto will probably duck him. Williams is a natural middleweight but he should be fighting at JMW to tune up his skills, at WW he's just draining himself. Williams is just not ready for Pavlik, maybe in two or three years, but not now.Comment
