He does look a bit like that, yes. I thought his mohawk was a thing of beauty too.

Kelly Pavlik vs. Paul Williams - Deal Reached For 9/27?

It will be the same as the Margarito fight - Williams will build up an early lead and hang on for a close UD.

Kelly is a natural MW and Williams may walk around a MW but he has never felt the power of a true MW. I could be wrong but this reminds me of Trininad going up to fight Hopkins.

True indeed thats exactly what happened to my boy Trinidad when he stepped up in weight.......people just dont realize the difference that 7lbs make in boxing ,imagine 13/14lbs.

Williams is no pushover, he's never been stopped or even down, as far as I know.

He's much too big to be a welterweight - in fact he's heavyweight size (based on height and reach). He started as a middleweight, and he actually has a big reach advantage over Kelly (Paul has a reach of 81" same as Wlad).

This would be a huge win for Williams, he would become a superstar of boxing.

So true... this is going to be ugly for Paul Williams. I respect his balls... but no chance in hell... and that's what I'm talking about... Williams in real life walks around with probably something like MW or even more. But he always fought guys and took shots who are 13lbs lighter. I would be deeply impressed if he goes the distance... but no chance of winning. Paul Williams throws a lot but not even very hard for a WW... no way

It'd be an odd fight for Williams next year, but moving up two weight divisions before septmber, he must be mad and could quite possibly be doing his body and boxing career damage. I can't see him gaining weight and doing well at that weight as early as September, a fairly easy Pavlik win imo. If it was next year I'd give Williams and ok shot, but this route, he's going down. Great shame of a decision, he'd have been doing great things at WW I agree.

For Sergio Mora to price himself out, after all the opportunities he's already missed, is also mad. And for Pavlik not to pursue a fight with Kessler and Abraham whom have openly called him out, is way bigger a duck than even ppl make out of Calzaghe. Absolute shambles all round.

Abraham has a mandatory to deal with and Kessler is forced to fight another mandatory who is a complete mismatch.

I'm not sure I'd make the out and out pick, but if Williams shows his current weight to be less of an issue than some think then I could very easily see the fight going exactly like that.

I have to say though, against Quintana Williams did not box anything like the way he did against Margarito and I hope he hasn't abandoned that strategy because I thought he was excellent using it. I also don't think he has much chance against Pavlik if he tries to walk him down.

You don't think Abraham would drop the belt and mandatory for a shot at Pavlik? Also, I don't know the answer to this question, but are unification bouts not allowed to take the place of mandatories? I know some sanctioning bodies allow this.
