What still left in the tank for Roy

This is a highlight video of all his offense, in the Trinidad fight in january..

The video starts off with jabs, then goes to all his right hands, then all his left hooks... then his defense... and the last half of the video is all of his combinations.... stick around for those...

Now is trinidad better than Joe Calzaghe? uh no.........

But this at least shows what Roys body is still capable of doing... Obviously fighting Trinidad will look easier than fighting Joe... but nonetheless.... this is what Roy is still capable of outputting...

Watch what round it is in the bottom right hand corner of the video, that way you can see what his speed is in what round.

He can beat all the B level fighters and under easily. But imo even though he beat Trinidad pretty easily, if i remember correctly it took a 4 rounds to warm up against a 2 year layoff Trinidad. He cant do that against Joe. I still think he CAN win the fight. I think Calzaghe wins though.

The issue is whether he can produce anything like that against a bigger stronger guy applying constant pressure who is capable of making much more subtle tactical adjustments than Tito was ever able to. It is going to be tough.

I know that roys mind, is capable of thinking just as well as joes... roy is able to make just as many methodical adjustments as joe...

the question is, can roys body still produce what his mind is thinking...

can he still pull the trigger...

my point of view is... he hasnt show me ANY problems pulling the trigger, in his last 3 fights...

can he pull the trigger against joe? that is something we will have to see...

if he can..... then joe could have himself a problem

Jones still has more than some people thinks he has left but not enough left to beat Calzaghe IMO.

Yeah I dunno man I think he is yet to show a willingness to throw in bunches which is what he is going to have to do to ensure that he isn't overwhelmed by Joe's workload. I admit he looked better against Tito than I was expecting but I'm just not sure if he is going to throw enough consistently to get the job done. What he does throw is likely to be effective, it just remains to be seen if the necessary volume will be there I think.

Well there were flashes of brillance in that fight but that's only because Tito just stood there like punching bag waiting to get hit. Against an opponent like that it's easy to look good but you've already acknowledged that in your post.

Calz has such a high level of activity I just see Jones turtling in the ropes and covering up as he always does against volume punching. Calz UD Jones.

Roy like Bernard fights in spurts. Although I think at this stage Roy's stamina is a lil betta than B-Hop's. And Roy's reflexes are quicker. Roy's gonna have to some magic or something to win or know how to steal rounds by letting off big combinations. I'm expecting Joe to win but I think Roy will make it close.

Roy can beat Joe at this stage but he'd almost have to fight flawless and know when to let his hands go.
