People can ***** about the Hatton fight, but those people are morons who generally would suck on Hatton's **** if he only asked, so blaming the ref comes natural.

Were they **** ups? Sure. But if a slip-up in the ring is suddenly grounds to be dismissed as a ref then there's not gonna' be many (see: none) left.

cortez always seems to get a bad rap. I actually believe that he is a good referee, and he is the best that he can do to his ability. I remember watching the David Diaz fight on the undercard of the Pac/JMM II ppv and Cortez snatching a loose piece of tape from a Diaz's opponent's glove tape quickly, without stopping the action. He also was able to get his opponent's mouthpiece in without stopping the action. Joe Cortez actually made those rounds exiticing, besides that it was a bore. As far as the Soto fight, Cortez looked like a horrible referee, and it's really a toss up. I guess we will have to see how he does his job on Saturday.

Well i have to say, if you look at how he ref'd the hatton fight. I personally wouldnt of had a problem with it if he hadnt of done the exact opposite in the Calzaghe fight. I think he is a biased old kunt, but thats not me saying that hatton had a chance against may.

Everything he stopped hatton from doing, he let hopkins do in excess.

Im not even gonna talk about the soto fight, it was him who created all the confusion in the first place.

Cortez refereed the Dariusz Michalczewski-Montel Griffin fight in Germany several years ago. I have this fight on tape. As soon as Griffin was the slightest bit hurt, he stopped the fight prematurely. The Germans know that Cortez can be trusted to protect their property.

Unbelievable. Of all the referee's, why does he get so many televised and PPV fights? Why isn't Steve Smoger on my TV screen more often? ****

I don't think it'll matter too much. Wlad or Tony will push his ****** ass out the way if he interferes with the fight lol. Joe will probably be on best behavior as well.

I don't think it will be much of an impact really. There's not too mant holding seesions in Wlad's fights.
