Hypothetical: Who would be the heavyweight champ

Alright let's go back to 2003 where Roy Jones Jr. beats John Ruiz. Lennox Lewis that year is stripped of the IBF and let's say Roy Jones Jr. picks it up against a top heavyweight contender.

Meanwhile Lennox Lewis takes on the #1 contender Vitali Klitchsko and makes a defense of his title. Meanwhile shortly after this, Roy Jones picks up the WBO. Lennox Lewis doesn't retire and Vitali Klitchsko retires with injuries.

Lennox takes most of 2004 off and Roy Jones does great work in the heavyweight division.

When Lennox vs Roy is set in late 2004/early 2005, who is the heavyweight champion of the world?

Lewis would still be the linear champion so he is the heavyweight champion.

I never even considered Jones a major player at heavyweight even when he bear Ruiz. Jones had a heavyweight belt and won it against arguebally the worst champion in history. Very impressive for a natural middleweight to get a heavyweight crown, but we have to look at who he did it against. I think that some people really take that win too far.

On topic, Lewis would be the heavyweight champion becuase he beat the better line of fighters and was linear champion.

          I agree with slicksouthpaw16. It's Lewis.

I find this interesting because if I were to put up a poll and that said "Who was the champ, Juan Diaz or Joel Casamayor"

It'd probably be a lot closer, if not Juan Diaz winning

              Not even close. Lewis.
