those wraps are what i use for the grant gloves. they are nice! i use traditional everlast wraps (ringside are good too) with the ringside gloves. unfortunately though, i just called ringside yesterday though and those gel wraps are backordered. sorry bro. just rock traiditional wraps for now and have someone teach you how to wrap properly so you are protected.
Is that right? **** I've always thought it was an essential tool for training, what makes you say that? what do you substitue speed bag work for? double end bag? bolo ball?

yeah, i do a lot of double end bag work. it has you throw punches in the traditional sense. you're still working on speed because you aren't throwing hard punches, but you are working on technique and how your would actually punch in a fight. i work on combos- 123 slip, 232 slip, 323 slip, 456 slip, 11 slip, 12 slip, 123456 etc. My trainer is the one that told me about the speed bag. at the same time, you won't find a boxer who can't hit the speed bag. its a tradition, so i still do three rounds on it to work on it. plus i teach boxing at the gym where i am a personal trainer (not the boxing gym I go to train for the amateurs) so i have to know how to hit the speed bag so that the guys who don't know that much about boxing that I am training will feel comfortable that i know what im doing and will trust me to train them properly...

if you want good quality boxing equipment then go to title boxing .com and look thru the whole sale items they have for all kinds of different brands. i get most of my equipment from there and is alot cheaper than just ordering from the direct site such as everlast main site. as far as sparring gloves i would recommend a brand called rival. i have everlast, cleto, and grant but these are really good. very comfortable and protective for sparring.

Like others have already stated go to Ringside.com or Title.com there's tons of information and different kinds of gloves. For sparring 14-16oz gloves will do the trick, you don't want to hurt your sparring partner and vice-versa. I personally own a pair of Ringside IMF Techs, 14oz'rs and they are sweet. I would love to get a pair of Winning gloves but they are about $350 a pop, all the pros use those, and they are imported from Japan. For bag gloves and mitt work I use the Canadian Rival Elite gloves, they got a nice fit and look cool. You gotta shop around and see what you fits your needs more.
Heh, yeah didn't really look much into it. I was at my local sporting goods store and was looking for a little something to protect my knuckles cause I was tearing the **** out of them when I was hitting the bag bare knuckle. I just wanted something with a little padding, but they aren't worth $50. I'll start with a pair of handwraps from one of the stores suggested and then look into some 14oz or 16oz gloves. Handwraps are good for just bag-work right?

handwraps are ok on the SPEED BAG. You wanna use gloves on the double end and heavy bags. They make special bag gloves, but there is no problem using your 14 or 16 oz gloves on the bags. that is what i do. stick with 16's. if you stick with it, add 14's to the arsenal later on.

Unless you want to end up with a wrist or knuckle injury I would suggest you not to hit the heavy bag with only wraps. If you are serious about boxing or just for workout and conditioning please get the correct gear before you start throwing punches or you will get hurt.

Get a set of handwraps or gelwraps, and get a pair of inexpensive bag gloves at the very least. Getting a decent set of gloves and good handwraps shouldn't cost you more than $60. Obviously there are more expensive gloves out there but start with something inexpensive and decent and then move up to something better after you get the hang of it.
