Exactly. It wasnt so much that he didnt allow Hatton to hold or w/e..it was that Cortez let Mayweather get away with a lot. A ton of obvious elbows, putting the glove to his face, holding etc. The worst was the point deduction. Floyd did the same exact thing in either the first or second round and got no warning.Comment

This board was filled with Hatton supporters, and many fans in the United States shared similar sentiments. Also, that had been the preconception for a long time, which was one of the reasons for the massive buildup of the fight.Comment

No, not even close to the truth.Exactly. It wasnt so much that he didnt allow Hatton to hold or w/e..it was that Cortez let Mayweather get away with a lot. Floyd never turned Hatton around and intentionally tried to land a blow at the back of his head.
You are clueless.
And wrong.Comment

I guess we saw different fights. He took liberties with his elbow as well. Floyd was smart so I don't blame him. I would have liked Cortez to let the fight take its course and not over officiate it like he was the star. At least now after the Soto fiasco Cortez has been exposed for the buffoon he truly is.Comment

Floyd used his forearms, not his elbows, to create room on the inside to land punches.I guess we saw different fights. He took liberties with his elbow as well. Floyd was smart so I don't blame him. Boxing has rules, and Hatton broke them, and breaks them every time he fights. I didn't see the Soto fight so I can't comment on it, but Cortez is a top ref. You don't let fighters hold and hit, hit low, and use any illegal tactics. Cortez should have just let them go anyway, Hatton would've got his ass kicked even worse if Cortez didn't break them and allow Hatton to rest. Ref's are responsible for the loss of fights in some fights, but not Hatton-MayweatherComment
