At this point, i dont really know if cotto can stand up to 12 rounds of intensity

I think Cotto is the better fighter, with the better skills and much better resume. But if styles make fights, and cotto for whatever ungodly reason cant move out of the way of a right hand, if he cant make margarito respect his power, margarito is going to likely stop cotto, and i say this not because cotto has no chin, and not because margarito has all this great punching power, its because i am really questioning cottos ability to give it all for 12 rounds. That mosley fight made me wonder, alot of it has to do with how economical cotto got in the last 3 rounds, i mean, this is why they fight the fights, because in reality i think this might be a nightmare matchup for cotto IF margarito doesnt respect his power, because cotto wont be the bigger guy this time and hes in there with someone who isnt just going to fold under his aggression.
cotto has stamina issue.
look at his fight with lovermore and mosely.Comment

I'm not sure he can either. Not because him being gassed, I think people are over exaggerating about that from the Mosley fight. Cotto simply decided in the 9th round that he had a nice lead and he could afford to box more. It wasn't anything Mosley landed. It wasn't like Shane turned up the pressure. He just started moving mid round.
I'm just not completely sold on his chin yet. If I were this wouldn't be close, it really wouldn't.Comment

Cottos chin has been questionable at times, im not going to argue that... but i think he is a very smart fighter and when hes in trouble he knows exactly what he is going to do to get out of it. That being said...
i got 50k to anyones 25k that cotto wins this fight...Comment

Well neither fighter is very good at fighting backwards. That's what makes it an interesting matchup. Cotto doesn't have an extremely high workrate, if you watch him he fights for like 30 seconds, then goes backwards bouncing around where he can't fight. He needs the opponent to be inactive to throw is jab. I don't think he could fight all 12 rounds, but well see.
But if you look at history, this fight will be Cotto's "coming out fight" It will be like De La Hoya-Chavez. Margarito will be Cotto's stepping stone to superstardom.Last edited by MikeBrew328; 07-08-2008, 08:53 PM.Comment
