If you are a real boxing fan, you know that Maskaev and Rahman do not belong in any top 10. WBC has such a long line of mandatories, champion emeritus, etc., that Haye will retire before he gets to be first in line.

There isn't much top oppostion to choose from for Haye. Ruiz, Chagaev and Valuev are on the WBA merry go round, Povetkin has Klit lined up, Peter has a mandatory against some frail dude later this year. That only really leaves the winner of Gomez-Virchis, Chambers, Ibragimov. Are those guys much better than Maskaev or Rahman? I don't think so.

Plus Haye has a #5 WBC ranking he should beat up some of those guys around him on that list.

If you judge fighters by their paper rankings, you're right. If you judge fighters by their boxing abilities, Ibragimov (the former world champ), winner of Gomez/Virchis, Chambers, Dimitrenko, Boytsov, *****ko, Arreola, or Brock (as long as he's motivated), would make it a much more interesting fight.

Even though I read about Haye/Maskaev being listed yesterday, I still somehow read this title "Have to fight Maskaev!?!??!?!?!??" about three times before it clicked that I was looking at a y instead of a v. I was all read to come in here and read how you roped yourself into a situation where you're going to have to fight Oleg Maskaev and everything!

I'm talking about recent champions here. Ie, in the last couple of years, and Rahman and Maskaev, age aside have been at the top of the heavyweight divisions respectively. Wether or not the level of competition was as good as when Holyfield or Lewis was around or not (which it wasn't, BUT, it still doesn't matter) at least he can say he's faced recent heavyweight champions and beaten them up.

Let's get one thing straight, Haye certainly won't dodge anyone, if he was to, then why would he call out Wladimir FACE to FACE in London? Haye wants the shot now, but respects he has to go through a few recent heavyweight headliners first, ie Maskaev and Rahman, they are the best two fights for him to have. I think Ibragimov could also be a contender being a recent former champ, I think Haye can take all these guys on the way to facing Wlad. The only person I can see giving Haye a problem in the ring is Sam Peter simply because he can take a punch, and dish them out extremely hard and dirty, as for Maskaev, it looks good on your CV as your first HW match, a victory over a former World HW champ. So see it how you like, that is the truth..

Calling out Wlad FACE to FACE, while knowing that he's got 2 mandatory fights lined up, is pathetic.

Judging from your signature you're a Klistchko fan, so that would be your opinion. You know what I've said is right, I don't understand why people disregard Haye in this discussion so much. Oh that's right, of course, he's not american!

First off, I am Vitali's fan. Second, Wlad is not American either. Third, Haye is disregarded because he's got a big mouth which is not backed up by anything but his big mouth. When, and if, he makes it good on his promise to fight a few top 10 HW, then we'll talk.

Does Haye have big money behind him? He will need it because contenders expect to be compensated handsomely for tough fights.
