The Rodriguez fight kind of made me a fan, he demonstrated great speed that will give any welterweight trouble, regardless of how good they are.
I've never seen Berto, but some (yank?) poster stated that his resumée is as good as Mikkel Kessler's.

That's pushing it a bit. Kessler has done a bit of mileage, whereas Berto has just come out of the showroom.

He has the mileage but outside of his loss to Calzaghe he hasn't fought anyone special...

I compared their resumes because even though Berto has 22 wins, he has two belts and is already stepping up to reputable competition and aims for the top.

Andre Berto is the future of the Welterweight division...he shows drastic improvement in each fight, he doesn't waste any punches (his last fight he went 63% in power punches), and he throws the best uppercut I've seen since a young James Toney.

He is a champ, time to step up homie. And if you dont think you are ready to fight them, sorry, but you should have let someone get the belt who is willing to fight a decent fighter. Not Collazo who lost to Hatton who lost to Floyd and would lose to ANY welter. If Hatton cant beat ANY Welter, where does that leave Collazo?
Floyd Never fought Collazo, But Collazo is a slick southpaw and would give anyone trouble.

The comparison was in resumées. Not potential.

Kessler has fought and convincingly defeated 4 worldchampions in a row, followed by a lopsided decision win over mandatory challenger (Andrade) before losing to JoeC. In terms of resumées Berto is still an infant compared to that IMHO.

And let me add that Berto according to boxrec only holds one 'world'-title.

Agreed. Colazzo isn't on any welterweights wish list. He can expose a lesser talent and would be by far Berto's biggest test. If he hadn't been injured he would have given Mosley a much tougher fight. He does lack a respectable jab though.

I think a Good fight would be Berto Vs. Cintron after he beats collazo
After Collazo he should fight the winner of Clottey/Judah.

Not surprised at this coming from the likes of you.

Look at all the bums tony has fought...Manuel Gomez...Golden Johnson..Sebastian Lujuan..all trash.

Lujaun had only been boxing for THREE years when he fought Tony.

                    Talk about a BUM.

Bero would kill Cintron's heartless ass..and will be SOON ready for those top guys.

                    Margarito is nothing special

                    nor is Cotto

Man, I am tired of people saying Berto should take on these lesser Welters. He won the Main Welter belt. Cotto, Margs, P Will, and Berto? WTF. Fight someone good. Okay, fight Clottey or Judah (Judah wins) what ever. What good tdoes that do? He wants to be the champ, so fight someone worth fighting. Why does Berto get a free pass to fight lesser knowns, but Floyd and COtto get hit hard for fighting Hatton and Gomez? Let it be equal. Berto FIGHT A REAL FIGHTER. Not a guy who lost to the guy or couldnt even beat the guy or couldnt even beat the guy who came up to 147 from 140. Come on.
