floyd will never be great. why? his career is yet unproven. he is at his best then he decided to retire. he was all talk but can't back it up. yes he wins but he wins through decisions and boring fights.

all the greatest in boxing fought the best there is to offer. most great fighters in the past got a loss because someone came that was better than them. yet they did not give up. they moved on and still fought the best there is and beat them. that's what being a great boxer is. no matter what happens win or lose they fight the best there is. they fight out there and lay everything on the line. even a boxer as slick and skilled as ali fought brutal fights.
