I think it's possible that Trinidad would've had less confidence in himself, and that would've affected the way he fought. I think that a guy with doubts about himself doesn't destroy Joppy so easily. Then again Tito seems to be full of confidence now despite his losses, so maybe he'd just be the same.
It would've been interesting to see Tito vs Sugar Shane, Vernon Forrest or Ike Quartey. Or maybe he would've gotten out of shape and lazy sooner and ended up fighting Jones at 175 a few years earlier. Imagine it, just after Roy has come down from heavyweight, he fights Tito instead of Tarver...and then due the weight drain Tito knocks him out in the first round! But no, that wouldn't happen. He maybe could've KO'd one of the 168 champs though.
I have always wondered if de la Hoya would've fought more often in recent years if he'd been given the decisions over Trinidad and in the rematch with Mosley. It seemed like after that he lost his love of the sport a bit and just wanted to make money as a businessman instead. Maybe if he got the decision he would've fought more often in the past 5 years, and we would've seen him fight Wright or Forrest, or perhaps he would've been the first one to beat Vargas.
Do you think an immediate rematch would've happened if de la Hoya would've been given the decision, and if so how would it turn out? I see de la Hoya winning a clear decision, but you never know...
