Why does Amir Khan get so much criticism, but not Anthony Peterson?

Because 3 reasons:People criticise Amir Khan for facing weak opposition and hand-picked oponents, but I never hear the same about either Anthony Peterson or his brother Lamont.
Amir is only age 21, while Anthony is age 23, and Lamont is age 24.
Khan has only 18 fights, while Anthony has had 27. Yet, Khan has already faced people like Limond, Kristansen and Lawton who are better fighters than any of Anthony or Lamont's opponents.
Why the double standard here? Why don't people start ridiculing the Peterson's for facing such weak opposition?
1. Peterson doesn't have nearly the spotlight for him.
2. Amir Khan is a silver olympic medal winner. When Pernell Whitaker won gold, his first oppennot was 9-0. Khan needs to step up the competition
3. Peterson hasn't gotten put on ***** street by that week opposition. Khan has.
Also both these guys impress me, but I don't know what you don't like for Peterson. I thought his performance on Versus was solid and I'd like to see him take a shot at Kid Diamond even if Arum thinks otherwise.Comment

You serious? No one talks about the Petersons at all. If anything comes up people just sort of nod, note that they have tools but haven't been battle tested, and move on. No one makes threads praising them as the next big thing. There is no reason for any criticism. Everyone seems to see them for what they are: question marks.Comment

I know the Peterson Brothers very well, and I can tell you this, they are a class act. They NEVER talk smack about ANYONE, and so far in their careers, they have done what they are supposed to do, they go in there and DOMINATE their opponents at this level.
They don't get ****y, they don't showboat, they are very humble and well spoken and they are all business - they both are totally committed to their sport. They work 6 to 7 days a week at it most weeks, and when they aren't working out in the gym or doing road work, they are teaching young kids to box - what else do you need to know? Boxing could use a hundred more fighters just like them if you ask me...Comment

How does that change the fact that they still haven't stepped up in competition? They need to step their game up and they need to do it soon.I know the Peterson Brothers very well, and I can tell you this, they are a class act. There were talks of A. Peterson vs Kid Diamond, but Arum canned it because of the negative reviews peterson got because of Wally Matthews,
Peterson beats Diamond at this point. Trust me, I saw Diamond's last performance against Leo Martinez and Peterson looked way better then Diamond did.Comment

He is the singular "prospect" of the British. A lot of Brits do hype him as "the man". I have heard plenty of Brits say that he was going to be the guy to beat Floyd Mayweather... whenever he got the fight with him.People criticise Amir Khan for facing weak opposition and hand-picked oponents, but I never hear the same about either Anthony Peterson or his brother Lamont.

Gomez is right, it is about how much he is hyped. If the Petersons were talked about more often, their resumes would be slagged off on much more than they are currently.Comment

I am sure they will, both have already faced fighters who were either undefeated themselves or have had just one or two losses. Why do you say they need to step their game up and do it soon? What is the hurry, they are both young. Both have already fought guys with much better records than say Calzaghe had faced in the same time period career wise. "Mighty Joe" didn't see a fighter with a winning record for the first 2, almost 3 years as a pro!
I agree, they are ready to step up the competition, it's not like anyone has even come close to ringing their bell at this level. I think they will be fine in stepping up too, they were both National Golden Gloves Champs as Amatuers, so they are used to stepping up. I look for both to get a title shot within a year or two, no hurry though.Comment
