Why does Amir Khan get so much criticism, but not Anthony Peterson?

People criticise Amir Khan for facing weak opposition and hand-picked oponents, but I never hear the same about either Anthony Peterson or his brother Lamont.

Amir is only age 21, while Anthony is age 23, and Lamont is age 24.

Khan has only 18 fights, while Anthony has had 27. Yet, Khan has already faced people like Limond, Kristansen and Lawton who are better fighters than any of Anthony or Lamont's opponents.

Why the double standard here? Why don't people start ridiculing the Peterson's for facing such weak opposition?

Because Khan gets a lot of attention... it's as simple as that.

People tout him as the next big thing and **** like that. If there were Peterson nuthuggers on here then I'm sure there'd be plenty of backlash about his resume too.

But the Petersons are the darlings of ESPN and ShoBox.

Never hear a negative word about either...

because no one on this side of the world is hyping them up to being something great. They are still under the radar. When people hype up a certain fighter (khan) they will get the critisim that comes with it. But if people just let him be and let him develop and he starts proving himself then people would be easy on him and on you or whoever.

That doesn't negate anything I said. Regardless of who might try to hype 'em, on this forum they simply aren't. Do a quick search of thread titles of Khan and Peterson and that should be more than sufficient evidence of what I speak.

To me, they're all in the Andre Ward class.

But most of the attention given here to Khan is negative, while virtually all the comments about the Petersons is positive.

Maybe it has something to do with the Petersons being American, and Khan being British?

It's merely sample size... jesus Kid.

You see what you want to see given the amount of stuff you can look at. Is there probably a little more hate? Sure, because all hype gets backlash... and the Peterson's on this forum basically aren't.

You're simply seeing what you want to see. You want to believe there's some hate for Khan simply because of his background, when it reality it's no more than any other fighter.

If the Petersons were to start calling for world title fights or claim they can beat Manny Pacquiao, their resumes would be brought up and criticized as Khan's has been.

Up to now, they seem to have demonstrated better perspective of their careers and, to my knowledge, haven't been as loud.
