  • During his fights, Lampley and Steward mostley just commentate, while Larry bitches about "wake me up when something happens."
"Well Jim they woke me up"

Steward was talking about how ATGs tried to get their opponents out of there if they had them helpless, like Hearns and Leonard, because Lampley brought up that he compared himself favorably to SRR.
To be fair, Baldomir had an iron chin and Mayweather wouldn't have gotten him out of there anyway. Cotto-Gomez was more of a "He is ducking cotto!" thing because it was before Mayweather went insane and was like "Bawww I'm retiring"

I agree, and am not a fan of the whole "you have to KO someone in order to make a win better" doctrine that some people have. A 120-108 decision is often better than a KO win IMO.

But I think Steward is right that Leonard or Hearns wouldn't have cruised to a decision with a dead man in front of them... Not that I'm saying that he was right to criticize, but I also don't think he was wrong. It's just a difference of opinion in this case IMO.

      • Yeah. I don't think Leonard could have gotten Baldomir out of there either unless we are talking about cuts. Maybe a TKO off of unanswered punches, but not an actual KO. Hearns could and would have though.

Also you have Margarito against Cotto? Seriously? 5k then?

Another bet that I am completely unsure of... I almost wish I wasn't betting either way on it, but... Since I like you... 5K for Margarito for me, 5K for Cotto for you...

          Good luck!

          • Margarito's to slow for Cotto. I think the fight Cotto wins wide, but has to work every moment. At the same time he has to do the "get in and out" tactic. I think this fight is going to be less incredible then everyone thinks it will be.

It'll be a good (great) fight, but it won't win FOTY. Atleast I hope so since I have points on it.

Then again I hate Margarito so it's probably where some of this is coming from.

Cotto will fight way too conservatively for sure for it to be a FOTY... if it is FOTY material, Margarito will win... count on it. The more exciting the fight is, the better the chance that Margarito is winning it.

I just think that Margarito is going to tire Cotto out by throwing a trillion hard shots, and I do think Cotto has chin issues. I don't buy this 140 weight drain bull**** as an excuse that his "iron chin" was no up to par. The Judah fight tells me that it wasn't just a 140 thing.

              I guess we'll see.

              • Judah's speed got him off guard and hurt him. He took some good shots from Mosley and was only hurt once (round 9)

Also Cotto is a lot better defensevly then he was at 140 (or smarter) so I think that helps.

I think the X-factor in this fight is how good Cotto's stamina is. He is quite economical, and if he does that out of necessity, that is going to show up in his next fight and it is going to be his downfall, for sure.

Constantly having to block Margarito's punches and throw back is going to be more tiring to him than anything he has had to do up to this point.

I just think the workrate of Margarito, plus the fact that I don't think Cotto is going to be able to get him out of there is going to cause him some serious problems, and probably give him his first loss.

Thanks for the compliment but, Sharpton is all about himself at the expense of black folks who have suffered injustice. To be honest, most blacks in NYC don't even like him. If Sharpton wasn't going to get his face on TV, he wouldn't go through the lengths to parade the victims around like he does? I don't agree with his tactics or his agenda.
