I was at the bar a few nights ago and ran into some who said hes the trainer here at the gym in my town. I ve been thinking about getting back into boxing again more for hobby than career but still competing. All I know is his record wasnt that great lost to a lot of top guys and beat Wlad, anyone know if hed be a decent trainer or not?
Does anyone know anything about Ross Puritty?

Ross Puritty was a tough guy who fought everyone in the HW division (Johnson, Rahman, Morrison, Grant, Gonzales, Sanders, Donald, Byrd, W&V Klitschko, Dimitrenko, Chambers).
I don't know if he is a good trainer (never had an amateur career, he was very experienced as a pro though) but he knocked out Wlad Klitschko, dropped Tommy Morrison twice and had some other good wins, he was rarely ever knocked down/out.

he was one of my favourite journeyman. Faced almost every quality name out there but came up short.
always gave a good fight, his biggest win was probably Wlad, he also beat Jorge Luis Gonzalez who defeated rid**** bowe as an amateur
give it a shot man, Ross was a ****er and came forward, unless you looking to be the next mayweather, than i dont think it would be a fitComment

Thank for the info. I need to get back to the basics Im good on like a toughman level but I need to get my technique back I havent been to a boxing gym in 5yrs. Im not from a big boxing town but Id prefer to someone to show me the dodge slip duck type route than just brawl I'll enter more toughman fights if I wanted that.Last edited by AKATheMack; 07-04-2008, 03:59 PM.Comment

yep you right manchine, tough sob. i got a lot of respect for fighters like that. The guy played football and made the transition from playing ball to boxing but with mixed results. considering that he was learning on the job and had no amateur experience he accomplished a lot.Ross Puritty was a tough guy who fought everyone in the HW division (Johnson, Rahman, Morrison, Grant, Gonzales, Sanders, Donald, Byrd, W&V Klitschko, Dimitrinenko, Chambers).

And it's good to point out, that his biggest victory came at the hands of his guy totally gassing out and collapsing against the ropes. There's no crying and a W is a W................but see.
For discussion's sake we can point to one Corey "The Sniper" Sanders taking Wlad out with good shots. Puritty did lay leather on him, but Wlad couldn't even hold his arms up to protect himself.
I scored every round prior to the stoppage for Wlad, and that was shocking that he gassed like that. He was owning on Ross.
