Should Cotto have turned down the Mayweather offer back at 140?

I did not know Cotto had an offer at 140. If he did then it's good he didn't take it. He has much more seasoning now, so he has better chance at 147 against Mayweather.Comment

Old Mayweather interview from 2005:
“Cotto needs a couple more tune-ups. Right now he’s a little too green,” Mayweather said."We’re rivals,” Cotto said. “Mayweather is a star of the sport and we’re in the same company. Mayweather was a great champion at 130 and 135. We don’t know about 140. When the company says the time is right to make the fight, I’ll fight him. I think it's a good fight. I know Mayweather's a great fighter. But I know I can beat him."
This is a funny quote too, from Mayweather:
“Me being a true champion, I think I'm going to retire undefeated. But if I do go out, I'm going out on my back. That's how a true champion's got to go out."Comment

You may know your little facts about the sport but you don't know the sport. I may not know about every little detail about what a fighter does, because I don't go & research it. But believe me I know boxing, and I have done done it myself.Last edited by krispy kreme; 07-03-2008, 09:33 PM.Comment

I understand the fighters themselves being all about the money. It's their career. But only Floyd's fans are obsessed with how much money is made and split. I realize that money dictates how things get done, but it is none of my concern what other people make. Many Floyd fans simply use money to justify him not fighting any of his top challengers. And that is weak.Comment
