Should Cotto have turned down the Mayweather offer back at 140?

Well if you want to say who should fight who at what weight, I think it's no question it should be at 147. Mayweather should be up for the challenge, plus even though he was better at 135 and 140 he's still a really good, if not the best, Welterweight there is besides Cotto. He's fast and has even carried up some to most of his power.
At 147 it's a closer, better, much more fair fight that would be harder to judge. Cotto gets beat handily at 140.Comment

Berto could become a big fight. The Mosley fight made money, and the Margarito fight will make even more, despite your wishful thinking. No doubt Cotto would have made even less fighting Mayweather when you wanted to, not to mention the damage to his career taking a match he wasn't ready for. So now that they are both ready, where is Floyd? It's not Cotto's fault he pulled the plug on his career prematurely.Comment

Dios is owning everyone in this thread single handedly, ouch. That being said it was smart when Arum said "I won't let Cotto aanywhere near a ring Floyd is in". I believe he still thinks that to this day.Comment

That fight fell FAR short of expectations.
Here is how you can tell how a fight is successful: They announce the PPV buys. When all you hear is Arum saying "the fight did around 400K buys", then you know two things.
1) the fight did NOT do around 400K buys
and
2) the fight was a commercial disappointment
You are talking about the SAME two guys that just set a WCB record LOW. For FREE.

Sounds like your basing this almost entirely on speculation. You have absolutely no facts to back up your opinions. And I'm supposed to expect you to pay off on a bet with the same promoter releasing the numbers? Like your going to just accept them as fact and pay up...Comment
