Obviously Mayweather was much more experienced than Cotto and Cotto's people were wise to wait for Miguel to mature. That is irrelevant in 2008 to any unbiased fan.
Should Cotto have turned down the Mayweather offer back at 140?

Tszyu was much more experienced than Hatton.
Hernandez was much more experienced than Mayweather.
Tszyu was much more experienced than Judah.
Calzaghe was much more experienced than Lacy.
The nature of boxing is that an up-n-coming guy takes on an established champion. These examples show that it can go both ways.Comment

Gatti was the draw. Zab was a bigger draw than Miguel at the time, and HBO and other industry representatives have always stated that Floyd wasn't fighting the best in every division because he wants the majority of the purse.Mayweather opponents got paid well. Gatti made $4+ million, and Zab was slated to make $3 million until he ****ed up. All Floyd's opponents made career highs. Migs would have been fine.
Miguel is only making $5 million nowadays. It's not like he is a 10-15 mil guy.Comment

Gatti and Floyd made close to the same. You may say that gatti was the draw. i will then ask you how many other PPV's gatti had...or when gatti ever made near that amount before or since.
Again, That fight would have been BY FAR the biggest payday of migs' career at the time.Comment

Hernandez and Tszyu were at the end of their careers and were ripe to be taken. Proof of that is that they never fought again. Judah and Lacy suffered humiliating losses.Tszyu was much more experienced than Hatton.

You're just upset that Cotto has been well managed and didn't make a foolish premature move. Now that he is a fully mature welterweight, Floyd isn't nearly as willing.Comment

Shows you the sorry state of Boxing... A guy who fights like Mayweather getting paid more than Cotto???? Yeah I know, it's all about more gay fans buying PPV then back in the day when fans were mainly straight blue collar guys whoMayweather opponents got paid well. Gatti made $4+ million, and Zab was slated to make $3 million until he ****ed up. All Floyd's opponents made career highs. Migs would have been fine.

I'm upset that Cotto is a mature WW who has made low money in poorly performing PPV's? Great management. Yeah. That burns me up. Because Floyd was managed in SUCH a ****ty way.Hernandez and Tszyu were at the end of their careers and were ripe to be taken. Proof of that is that they never fought again. Judah and Lacy suffered humiliating losses.

How old were Tito and Oscar when they fought? Did they have equivalent "experience"?Comment
