    sid vanderpool

Just watched the Lacy Vanderpool fight again and my theory is if Vanderpool fights a smarter fight he wins that fight. He did not need to exchange big blows. I also will venture to say that he is still fighting today and has/had a couple of belts to go along. Bad managment or training cuz the guy had some tools...

      Syd everyone... Syd.

And yes, he did look like he could beat Lacy.

In hindsight, almost everyone Lacy fought looked like they could beat him in the fight when you watch it again.

          Co-****ing-sign.

I watched the Reid and Shieka fights again and thought what the hell was everyone so excited about? We were all fooled and the proof was definitely in the pudding. And I was and still am a fan. The truth is Lacy is really not that good.

On a side note, it was the Vanderpool fight that made me a fan, and I remember that being very close to the end too.

he lost his fight after that one too. he definitely has skills but he lacks discipline. he seems like the type of fighter that would be able to make a nice comeback.

Showtime opened their entire vault to ESPNClassic... they have shown the Reid, Wiggins and Vanderpool fights recently... mostly on undercards of things.

The Vanderpool fight was shown before Klitschko-Williamson.

Small world with Syd and I ... we became good friends and still keep in contact to this day (he's a very nice guy!). At the time he fought Hopkins he had just one loss... it was to a guy from my gym named Terry Seay and the night they fought I was the one (even though I was still very much in the middle of my own career) who worked his (Terry's) corner and advised him between rounds. Boxing is funny, though. Terry never really went anywhere after that while Syd worked his way back up and got a world ranking and two world title fights.

Syd gets hit too much to be anything great, thats what you should have learned with the lacy fight. He likes to exchange big shots against guys he shouldn't be exchanging with. His big shots didn't even really effect Lacy, it was Lacy's big shots which were effect Syd.
