Why do people think sluggers with no defense are "giving the fans what they like?"

Its a "fight". Fans want to see the "fighters" engage one another. I'd be pretty pissed off if i payed to see 2 fighters retreat from one another.

It's not because they are so preoccupied with the FANS. And if they were, that would be ****** as ****, because they risk losing and harming their careers and themselves just to make people have fun. People who do not care about them as persons and only want to see the fights.

A real intelligent fighter, a real intelligent PERSON actually, when in competition, does what he can to WIN. If someone competing in ANYTHING has goals other than to WIN, then he/she is a TERRIBLE competitor. So if these so-called warriors who only want to please the fans compromise their skills so that the fans will be entertained, they are unaware of the main objective of their sport, and I can't understand why they should be respected at all.

Fighters have different styles and some styles are more exciting than others.

Let me ask you an honest question and be HONEST. Which fight did you find much more exciting?

      1 - DeLaHoya vs Mayweather

      or

2 - Gatti vs Ward (pick one)

DLH vs Mayweather was one of the best displays of boxing I have seen in recent memory. Both are incredibly skilled fighters who 99% of other fighters in the sport can't match BUT....

Gatti vs Ward was like Rocky ****ing 7!! I mean it was what heart is all about. Even though, neither Ward not Gatti can hold a candle to DLH or Mayweather in skill, it was a much better fight to watch.

Fighters fight to their strengths and some fighters styles are just more exciting to watch....plain and simple.

When the FOTY is announced, is it not usually a toe to toe brawl that wins?

going for the KO or not running doesnt mean going "toe to toe"..yu can box and be slick with out running or back pedaling..

Klitschko did what he needed to win against Ibragimov. Do you think that's what the fans wanted to see? Do you think they were just happy that he got the win? That performance was as entertaining as waiting in line at the supermarket.

Good post, simple and to the point. One can be smart and exciting at the same time (Marquez, Malignaggi, Mayweather, Mijares, Montiel).

It just seems that your name has to begin with an M.
