      You need to show some respect for Hatton.He fought plenty of times in the United States early in his career and stepped up to fight the former P4P champion Floyd Mayweather.Calzaghe wouldn't dream of doing this if he was in Hattons posistion.

            Berto doesn't have good defense. He has great talent on the offensive end but his defense isn't something to get all hyped up about. And Berto's speed isn't nearly as fast as Mayweather's was.

              Hatton stepped up and got his chin check hooked........... he was ok fighting guys when he could employ his hold and hit, head in face tactics........when he couldn't against Floyd he was exposed.

                  yeah i agree Berto has a great defence against someone like Rodriguez but he has been tagged by Estrada and Rivera and been down in the ameteurs a few times by all acounts his defence is not great at all ,when he shows the kinda D he did against Rodrigues against top quality fighters then i will take notice and aknowledge his defensive skill

                  no question his offence is terrific but his Defence and durability are a differenet story IMO

                    Yup, not to mention;

                    Alex Arthur
                    Clinton Woods
                    Nicky Cook
                    Junior Witter
                    David Haye
                    Bradley Pryce

                    Loads of up and comers aswell. Amazed some ppl just think we've only got Calzaghe and Hatton, I mean fairly ignorant gotta be said. Just because you haven't seen much of them doesn't mean there not already good or coming through, I'd rather ppl asked rather than exposed theyre ignorance listing the only 2 fighters they clearly only know about much.

                      The thing is we have got a lot of good armatures coming through at the moment. Tyson Fury been one who didn’t make the Olympic team but he was good enough to. This year a Beijing week are taking a record 8 boxers. That is the most we have ever taken to an Olympic competition. On Sky Sports they are shown all the new guys who come from a good boxing pedigree, Matthew Marsh winning a British title after 11 fights is a good thing. The government is making sure the boxing academies are well funded for 2012. So within the next 5 years I expect some young boxer from the UK to shine.
