Which other former Champions would Roy Jones have beaten at HW

Which other former Champions would Roy Jones have beaten at HW if any ?

i could honestly see Roy Handling Rocky Marciano i know im gonna get tons of abuse for this but i just feel he was to easy to hit and Roy would have had to many angles to much footwork to much speed for Rocky and i think he would win a 12 round decision

id also give Roy a good chance against Michael Moorer

who else do u think he would have been capable of beating at HW if any

allthough i must admit if Rocky could trap Roy on the ropes he could easily win the fight Roy was a great defensive fighter but he did not have a great defence if u get my drift especially when backed up on the ropes

Roy can probably beat Chris Byrd in a close decision.

its hard... a PRIME roy... has the boxing ability to possibly hit and not get hit by anyone...

im not saying he WOULD beat anyone... but a prime roy has the capabilities of pulling off anything..

that prolly sounds ridiculously biased.. but... i dont think its too far off

obviously the taller champions with a jab would be tough... ali, holmes, lewis, klitchko etc etc

Chris byrd, maybe Holyfield...**** James Toney did it. Michael Moore is probably a good one but I think the Rock hit too hard, If Joe Louis the greatest Heavyweight in the world couldn't do it I don't think Roy could. Pretty much any of the light heavys that went up to heavy I give Roy a chance with in his prime.

John Ruiz didn't know how to use his size to his advantage like other real heavyweight champions would. I personally couldn't see Jones beating any dominate heayweight champion becuase of his natural size, Ruiz is just that terrible. Toney(another blown up middleweight) also beat the crap out of him. Roy chances would be better against Marciano becuase Rocky would only be a natural cruiserweight by today's standards but Jones could be knocked out if he was caught.

i agree to an extent i think Jones biggest nemesis would be someone with a good jab like Lewis ,Klitschko because he would not be able to get in and out without getting caught it could somewhat resemble what Hearns did to Leonard for how many rounds

not to mention Lewis ,Wlads power the right cross ,i would fancy Roys chances even less against Bowe cause Bowe would have gone after Jones trying to KO him walking him down and what not taking a few to land his right hand

He has a good chance against the smaller heavyweight champions of the past era's, I would favour him over the Byrd who fought Klitschko in a rematch.

I don't know about beating Marciano because Rocky fought guys like Walcott, Moore and Charles, all puzzling counter punchers around Roy's HW size.
They were actually heavier than Marciano was but Rocky as a natural heavyweight (at the time) who trained fanatically to get down to around 180-190 lbs from 200+ was still too strong for them.

Those fights do show that Marciano could be outpointed but he never gave up and went for the knockout with every thrown punch.

Marciano, despite his record, could be beaten...

but he could also destroy you with one punch.

12 rounds, I would give Roy a good shot as Marciano was not a 12 round fighter (he would've lost to Walcott in a 12 round fight).

TBH i can see both sides of the arguement i mean Jones has never been good at tying people up and many of his lesser oponents best moments against him were when he was on the ropes but Jones would deter a lot of them with counters on the way in but if Rocky started walking through those counters to get to Jones and made sure he stayed on Jones Chest he could stop Roy

on the other hand if Roy goes to the body he could wear Rocky down and sap his stamina a bit and pot shot to a decision by offsetting his attacks with movement and peppering him with counters

Roys lead right hand would stand out in this fight

max schmelling. (not fair to judge old timers against modern guys though)

evander holyfield. (the old one with a WBA belt that ruiz beat)

ingemar johansson. (not very good imo. floyd just had no chin.)

chris byrd. (chris was very good but he'll box with roy. roy don't lose boxing matches)

that's about it. maybe rocky as well but i think rocky would've worn down roy punching his arms , shoulders , top of the head , etc. and if suzie q just lands once......you know what rocky did to great light heavyweights......

everyone else would eventually catch roy and roy will get knocked out.
