There's several threads going on right now about Manny Pacquiao and his potential next opponent. In all these threads I've had to repeat my points over and over again like a broken record. So I'm posting my own thread to explain my views on this.
First. Everyone is saying he should fight Joan Guzman , Juan Manuel Marquez , Nate Campbell , Joel Casamayor or Juan Diaz first.
Please be advised that all those named above are all fighting each other (Katsidis is fighting Diaz) and they won't be able to fight in November where Pacquiao is to be sheduled to fight.
The only other fighters available aside from Hatton is Edwin Valero and Humberto Soto (though a rematch has been ordered by the WBC for him)
Ricky Hatton is a big name and represents lots of money. He also has a fight scheduled with Paulie but since he would make close to $15 million probably on a Manny fight , suffice to say he can afford to give Paulie some step aside money.
Manny cannot fight Juan , Joan , Juan Ma , Nate or Joel in November. The only other options are:
A. Jump to 140 and fight Ricky Hatton.
B. Fight WBO 130-lb. Champ Edwin Valero or Humberto Soto
C. Don't fight at all.
Keep in mind that Freddie Roach has already stated that a jump to 140 or 147 would not be a permanent thing and will be a one-shot type affairs for big money , big name guys like Oscar de la Hoya and Ricky Hatton. A jump to 140 would not be a permanent thing and he'll go back to 135 where big money fights with the title holders and a rubber match with Marquez is.
