I will say this, Chavez did quit before the beating really started.
man, i respect and honor Chavez. But, what i cant put up with is the disrespect that Oscar gets for beating Chavez 2x. Oscar stood toe to toe with the symbol of Mexican machismo and beat him, give the man his props.

im comparing them in terms of yrs in the game, which was about the same. Floyds win doesnt get discredited cause oscar was old, and neither should Oscars win and making Chavez quit.

To be fair I don't think it is correct to approach it like that. I consider Floyd's win over Oscar to be superior to Oscar's win over JCC. I think prime for prime Oscar beats JCC anyway but I just don't think JCC presented anything like the challenge to Oscar that Oscar did to Floyd.

Iy is the same based on number of yrs in the game. Its Chavez,s fault he didnt prepare or whatever. Oscar get s hated on for beating Chavez and making him quit, stop the BS, if Chavez didnt think he xould win he wouldnt have taken the fight. After all, he was a warrior and and warriors and true mexicans don t quit.
Don King threw Chavez in with the most dangerous fighters when he was at the end of his career becuase Chavez was still in a contract with Don King and King wanted to get the most of it. Chavez was old and past his prime weight class, its as simple as that. I personally would never blame a fighter that was his age and had been in as many wars as Chavez has. Julio is known as a legend and for having heart. He will always be remembered as one of the best warriors in boxing history. All action blood and guts fighter that that defined warrior. Also, no offense but between me and you Oscar quit against Hopkins.

I think the majority of disrespect comes from fellow Mexican fans of Chavez. He was their hero, their pride for years. Then Oscar comes along (who isn't a real Mexican in their eyes) and makes a bloody mess of Chavez like nothing. There's a lot of resentment because he crushed their hero.

Man that fight puzzles me. I have watched it several times and I just do not understand why he quit. He wasn't taking too much of a beating was he?

I dont believe he quit. Nothing about his previous fights gives me the idea he would quit. He was getting a tougher fight and being puffy from Ike quartey, yet he came out in the 12th and went all out.

He got caught by the perfect punch, if u go back to the fight, before the the Ko , in between rds , Hopkins' corner told him to go to the body.

I understand all that and I agree that it isn't consistent with his previous fights and actions. It just didn't seem like the sort of punch that would stop a guy like Oscar. However, I haven't been hit with a perfect body punch so I guess I don't really know.

man get the **** out of here with your bull****! Chavez was an old way past his prime fighter that was getting hit. Just because he chose for the better of his health and safety to not continue the fight that means he's not a warrior?? Oscar beat an old chavez twice if that gets your panties in a bunch then so be it but don't hype it up like it was a great victory. **** dlh had a trinidad fight won and ran the last half of the fight how do you expain that as machismo? Please get Oscars nuts out of your mouth and breath. Oscar gets credit for fighting the people he did. He doesnt get credit for ducking winky, and forrest. He doesnt get credit for whitaker or quartey, or trinidad. I give him the second mosley fight. He was a ***** and quit against hopkins if you wanna put it in your type of words. He was ****en taken too school by a guy smaller and 20lbs lighter than him in floyd. Oscar has enough nerve to mention fights with hatton and paquiao. Oscar wants to fight the best before he leaves so if cotto wins he will consider a fight with him but if margarito wins then he's going for a trinidad rematch Get oscars nuts out of your mouth please and open your eyes to who he really is.
