Second, my point wasn't that Taylor missed most of his punches. I responded to the statement that Hops wasn't busy enough. Point is, Taylor threw a lot more but...who cares if most missed? You don't score ineffective aggression (well, some of us do).
Finally, how have you always known compu-box to be accurate? Please show me when, where, how and the results of this test you did to prove accuracy.
>Taylor won the fights on 5 out of the 6 scorecards during both fights. That's what leads me to believe more people think Taylor won. Simple.
>You were the one who said that Taylor was busier with misses. Which should not count considering that he landed more punches overall. The bussiness would only add to the winning effect.(ala-Calzaghe)
>About compu-box. I have viewed every major boxing match since the 2000's started and most before that from 96 up. I have always been a statistician, so I tend to count landed punches in fights that mean something to me. I have been doing it in almost all of the recent fights too. It was hard to keep up with the Hopkins-Calzaghe fight, but accoring to my count they were pretty close. I also do this on ESPN telecasts too. They are'nt far off either. As far as proof, I would say take a count next time it strikes you to do it. I have DVR, so it may be a little easier for me. I can rewind and look closely to the landed punches , etc..............
>I hope that helps you understand where I am coming from. In closing, I can understand how fans opinions can make them lean toward a fighter even though they know otherwise. For instence, I am a huge Ricky Hatton fan and think he won 5 out of the first 8 rounds with Floyd and I bet you saw it like the judges with a clear win for Mayweather. See where I went with that?

I am just super excited that theyre gonna get this done. Especially that its set for Sept 20th intstead of late November. That means after RJ takes him out, we should get to see him again in early 09. Im hoping to see him go back after Johsnon and Tarver, so im happy things are moved up a little so that theres more time to make other fights next year! Best of luck to Joe, but im obviously a Jones fan and also confident he can win the fight.

In fact in any fight with Jones Calzaghe will start as favourite, and if any set of fans are "telling themselves" something, its is those who pick Jones.
Jones has not beaten a live opponent in years, and has lost each and every time he has faced an upper echelon fighter since 2004. In that time Calzaghe has faced and beaten some of the toughest opponets of his career. These aren't opinions, they are facts, and talking as though Roy has anything but a small chance is simply denying reality.
BTW, Trinidad is an upper echelon fighter IMO. Jones adapted and beat him in every imaginable rateable catagory of the game. You can say that Tito was only a WW at his best, but if that were true he would have lost more fights at 160 after he made the transition. He carries the weight well and retained his power through his whole career. Those bodyshots were monsterous that he landed on Jones.

Hell , Tarver did'nt have an easy time w/ Jones in the 3rd fight after he was gunshy from getting knocked silly in 2 consecutive fights. I absolutely think Calzaghe has a great chance to beat Jones, but if you anylized this fight for as long as I have you would understand the method to why I know Rjj will win. I will be suprised if Joe lasts the fight to be honest. The Hopkins fight just sealed my reasoning even more. Let me ask you this. When has Joe faced a really accurate and sharp puncher? You say Kessler? He is really refined, but does not throw all that sharply.(ala-Pavlik, a comparison even admitted by you in other posts)You say Lacy? Brute force is not sharpness. Not even close. He was overrated and had trouble with basic fighters before Joe. I knew that fight would be a white-wash. Lacy would have been KO'd inside of 5 rounds with a Prime Rjj. Then you say Hopkins? Well, at times B-hop is accurate, but he lands with his eyes closed off of instinct like the KD in rd. 1. Also, has been beat by Jones while in his prime decisively. Now, with that enlightenment, Jones is by far the fastest, most accurate and sharp puncher that Joe has ever and will ever have faced. This makes him more dangerous than Pavlik, B-hop and someone named Froch.(thats a joke, meaning he is a nobody)You do not have to agree with me and I know very well that the favorite in the fight is Joe, but my money will be based on boxing knowledge and not just recent fights. Jones is the Kryptonite to Super Joe, and come time in Sept. you will be forced to recognize this too. Remember, not too long ago Jones was called super as well with that 49-1 record. (1 loss b/c of a DQ) It can all come to an end at any time.

This makes no sense. That doesn't mean most of the people thought Taylor won. That would be...six people? Out of the couple million who watched? And judging by the reaction of the TWELVE THOUSAND people who were ringside for the first fight and Booed as loud as you could at the decision...hmm...12000 - 6. You be the judge.
When did I say his landed punches shouldn't count? Or am I misreading this post? And what are you saying anyway?
So now you know compubox is accurate because you count the punches yourself. Wow...that's a good one. So was your count exactly what CompuBox had or was it different? If it was different, how so? Just curious.
FYI, I have all those fights on DVD
I do my best to be objective but I'm not all the time. however, there is NO doubt in my mind that Hops won the first fight handily - and while I love the Hops, I love JT too. Watch again with the sound off. And I know plenty of people who agree.
>I am making a point that judges are persuaded by business, but in this case Taylor was alot busier but in fact landed 10 less shots in the first fight. Right? That does not mean that a fighter should win if they have to be forced into engagement every exchange and happen to land more shots.
In fight 2 Taylor was outlanded by only 6 punches, but again pushed the fight. That means something, believe it or not.
>They have never been exactly right, but always very close. Usually within 10-25 punches. I don't remember exact totals off the top of my head, but I assure you that I have been doing this for a while because I too used to doubt the authenticity of compu-box. Also, there is no way to acually determine if they are correct or not without counting yourself. What will you do? Ask a competitor to count too? And, who would be able to tell if they were right? See where I am going with that? Okay then, that's why I count punches myself and I always trust MYSELF over YOU, the judges and the compu-box personel.
>Exactly my point. I am glad you are able to admit that as I am. Also, there is no Doubt in MY mind that Hatton won 5 of the first 8 rounds against Floyd too.Last edited by Chase8400; 06-27-2008, 05:00 PM.

Same thing with Trinidad, he was a great fighter (at welterweight!). You are also massively underrating Calzaghe. I told you that you were going to mention the Tito @ WW thing. LOL.
I am talking about 2008 Roy. The Prime Roy would have made Joe seem like he did'nt even belong in the same ring.
We will see though. I have your prediction well documented.
