Well, I see many are already saying that the former pound-for-pound king Roy Jones Jr is destined to fail in an attempt to inflict the first loss of Joe Calzaghes pro career. However, I myself a fan of Calzaghe, can see that this is probably not true. We are all well acquainted with Jones blazing hand speed, and thus will be the first man to have held a hand speed advantage over Calzaghe. No one knows how Joe will react to this, as it has never happened to him before. And, although he cannot (Or at least seems unable to) throw combinations with the same fluidity that he once did, Hopkins proved that effective right hand counter punching is an effective way to beat Calzaghe, and Roy has showed ability to counter off of the ropes even now that his reflexes have diminished.
Jones is obviously faster than Hopkins. So I would say that Roy will be able to tag Joe with right hands like Hopkins was. It also seemed that had Hopkins stamina not failed him he would have been able to beat Joe, and to my eyes Roy seems to have better stamina than Hopkins.
So I just wanted to express my points, Roy has a chance of beating Calzaghe. I am not saying he will (So don’t dig this up if Joe wins and say “lulz PWNED”) just that he has talents that may carry him to a victory.
