I sense Dirk is ready to explode at any moment...he's showing signs of going back to his old self as he cracks from the pressure of having to talk BOXING lol--no doubt, he'll find a way to bring nationality back into this:
A prime example right here lol.Well.......i shouldve known it was a waste of time trying to have a sensible debate with you.
Since this is completely immaterial (and obviously what you'd rather talk about), let's move on LIKE YOU SAY.Hopkins flat out ducked Calzaghe. Move on.
Kelly Pavlik is a hundred times more popular than Corrales was at the time he fought Mayweather...what are you talking about? Pavlik has sold pay-per-views and fought in front of sellouts at Atlantic City. Ok, here's a better question: what makes you say Corrales was popular at the time he fought Mayweather? Hehe...here's your chance to show that you were watching back then and know what you're talking about (But I think you'll duck this question or risk the truth embarrassing you).I hate to say it but you have no idea what you're talking about. Fighters dont have to sell PPVs to be popular - look at Pavlik, what has he drawn? But Id say he was popular.
Actually you just proved me right again because Corrales was as popular in the US back then as Kessler is in the US right NOW - if not less!!! You've got me chuckling over here. The Corrales-Mayweather fight was attended by less than 3000 people, I believe. Listen dude, I know you want to say that Corrales was ranked that high because he was popular but it's just not true. Get over it.I was also looking at it from a comparison to Kessler who is a European fighter that most people wont have seen much of hence less popular than Corrales.
at you waiting to jump on any little thing I say to tell me I didnt watch boxing. I hate to say it but you clearly show you're not the sharpest knife.
That's one simplistic way to look at it. I guess Lacy and Kessler are the same level because they were undefeatedIf we're looking at it from a perspective from when Calzaghe and Mayweather each fought them, theres no one who is "leagues ahead". Both were undefeated young champions.
. So are Kessler and Berto hehe. Come on, there's a reason why Corrales was ranked in the top five pound for pound and Kessler...was not. Of course, you'd have to delve into their resumes and know what you're talking about without poring over boxrec. Good luck with that.
True. Neither had elite wins. But one had several solid ones in succession...actually, wins that were leaps and bounds above anything Kessler did. Which is why one was so highly ranked and the other wasn't AS high. And not just by US boxing magazines either (I work for a highly-respected UK mag that felt the same way). So whether you like it or not, Corrales was and is rated worlds better than Kessler. End of story. Trying to rewrite history won't change that. You ask who Corrales was supposed to face? Who was Kessler supposed to face? He'd won two titles and got beat when he stepped up.........just like Corrales did. Neither had "elite" wins. Period.Last edited by IMDAZED; 09-24-2008, 04:22 AM.Comment
