    The lightweight division quickly becoming the best division

    It's competiting with the welterweights with all these guys moving up in weight and fighting the top lightweights.

    We have Marquez moving up to fight the Ring Champion Casamayor.

    We have Guzman moving up to fight Unified Champion Nate Campbell.

    We have Pacquiao moving up to fight WBC title holder D. Diaz.

    We have M. Katsadis and Juan Diaz squaring off providing us with a Fight of the Year candidate type fight.

    We have Amir Khan and Anthony Peterson, Andre Berto-esque upcoming prospect/conteders.

    The best possible fights are happening at 135 that could lead up to other great matchups once we know who the winners are.

    As a boxing fan, I'm loving it.

    whoa never really put it into perspective...so much talent at 135. I'd love to see Amir Khan shine in this division

      When I heard buggy eyes Kellerman the other day talking about WW being the best division, I thought of LW. Surely with Floyd gone and all those guys moving up, LW has to be the best now, or at least damn close to it. I'd like to see Juan Diaz lose 5 lbs of baby fat and go down to 130 and dominate, now that those guys have moved up.

        Yeah the WW division isn't all that stacked. There is only one more real fight left without Mayweather in the picture and that's P. Williams Vs the Margarito/Cotto winner. The winner of that has basically cleaned out the division.

        All you have left after that is recycled fighters like Judah/Clottey/Quintana makinga comeback fighting each other to get another crack at the Top.

          Well Pacquiao did his Mayweather thing getting another title up in weight.

          Who should he fight next, the winner of JMM/Casamayor or Campbell/Guzman???

          Or even the winner of Katsadis/Diaz??

            Yea since Floyd retired i have though 135 has been the best division in boxing, even when Floyd was there 135 was getting really close to 147 because of the volume of good fighters, imo anyways

                lightweight is deeper than welterweight. there's only really 2 guys that need to fight at welterweight now that floyd has retired and that's cotto and williams.

                at lightweight u got pac, campbell, casamayor, juan diaz, katsidis, guzman and marquez... and you get the feeling like any guy can win at any time.

                    Lightweight right now is in the situation that welter was a while back, looking really good because there are a lot of great matchups to be made before the division shakes down. Welter doesn't look so good now because we've seen that guys like Cintron and Quintana aren't quite up there, and presumably the same sort of shakedown will happen at LW.

                    However, because some the guys either at LW or moving into it have already had good stints at lower weights, I'd say its a bit more exciting than the current batch of welters ever was. It has a greater number of potential top guys and thus greater depth too.
