He's got the opportunity to finally fight a young, undisputed champion in his prime and prove everyone wrong and finally put all the doubters to rest and instead he's fighting a washed up, over the hill Roy Jones. I just never expected it from Joe, that's all.

That doesn't stand up at all. Hows Pavlik any different to Kessler in that regard? Kessler held 2 belts at SMW when facing Calzaghe, Pavlik has 2 belts now. Kessler is young, more in his prime than Kelly, a better boxer according to most experts and polls on here, and favoured to beat Pavlik in polls on here, and thats from a largely American public.

They'll often an opponent some would love to see a boxer face, often more so when they'd like to see someone really challenged and even lose. So a higher benchmark is unfairly set compared with most others. For Joe it's been Lacy, Kessler, now its Pavlik, then it'd be Dawson or Tarver. It's on going. The latter 2 are same weight way more legitimate tougher fights for Calzaghe than Pavlik.

Call him a fraud all you want. Pavlik WILL fight the best out there. Maybe he can give JC some lessons in heart. When he beats AA, then what? When he beats Kessler, then what? I like Pavlik but if he's so determined to fight Calzaghe and "the best" then he should drop the MW title and challenge Kessler at SMW, that would show "heart." That would be fighting the best available opponent who just called him out and if he beats Kessler, Abraham will still be availible and calling out the LHW Champion wont look so ridiculous.

JC wont stay still and trade with Kelly like Taylor did he will use his speed and angle advantages to take Pavlik to school. Kelly didn't seem to bring more power to the second Taylor fight at the higher weight and going to LHW may make him an ordinary puncher.

Kelly Pavlik easily tops Calzaghe's top five hardest hitting opponents.He has the highest KO ratio out of any middleweights and is very heavy handed.Kelly is not a one punch knockout artist but can hurt with one well placed right hand or a body shot.To suggest otherwise you might just be the idiot!

Pavliks the latest well hyped fighter whom Americans would love to see beat Joe. It's exactly the same as Lacy, exactly the same as Kessler, both went home with bad losses. It's no surprise it wasn't enough because it never will be that's the point, ppl would say Pavliks too young an in experienced if Joe beat him, then rant about the next guy to beat Joe. Calzaghe will definitely make more money fighting Jones. Roy just sold half a million PPV's for his fight with Tito and Joe has proven he can put asses in the seats in the UK. The Calzaghe/Jones is estimated to get both fighters close to 20 million each. Pavlik wouldn't make Joe half that no matter how they split the pot.

Great post..i cant understand why some people cant see the logic in this, Joe doesnt need to fight another lacy or Kessler in pavlik(Good fighter by the way) at the moment. A roy fight would make Joe more money and at this stage of his career his entitle to it.
