You have to be fortunate to get into super fights. Nowadays i consider your most serious adversary as the elite fighter in your own fivision. Cal has faced Eubank, kessler, and lacy, and he beat a decent hop. Floyd has faced hernandez, chico, castillo, hatton. Elite to me means best in the division. Fighters have gone their whole career not fighting what many perceive as an elite fighter. Heavyweights rarely face other pfp ranked heavies, same with cruisers too. All you can do is beat the elite fighters in your division. Not every one can face another pfp elite fighter.
no ****, cotto is in floyd's division, and pavlik would move up into joe's!

Who ha cotto beaten that was elite, and who has margs beaten that is elite? To me they both have good wins against elite fighters in their division. Elite is a word being thrown around concerning only pfp fighters. Not every division has pfp fighters in the same division. It is rare to have sugar, duran, tommy, benitez and hagler. Imagine of mccallum couldve gotten into the mix. Elite is the very best. It doesn't have to be only connected with pfp guys. As far as this chico going to jail crap, that is a cheap way to crticize a fighter. Disses roll off you guys tongues, and it is purely comical. You guys don't like certain fighters. And it even gets to the point you don't respct a boxer. Kids do that, i don't expect grown men who arefans to ac that way.

They haven't happened yet, so who are the elite fighters they beat. I don't want to hear who turned down what? Who have they beaten to date that is considered elite?

The biggest difference is that Calzaghe would most likely beat Pavlik, but wouldn't get paid half what he will to fight Jones. Pavlik has just come along too late for a chance at Calzaghe. I wouldn't mind seeing that fight in about 2 years, but Calzaghe will be long retired by then, probably promoting his own fighters, if the rumors are true.

Jones, really, is the best fight for Calzaghe. It's low risk (in my opinion, though many disagree), big payoff, and both fighters will be farking tickled with the last big payday of their careers, whoever wins.

Cotto- Shane & Judah, they are still elite fighters.

Margarito- If you count Clottey who is definitely an elite right now then there you go. And joking aside, I could have sworn they put Cintron up on that WW elite list around the end of last year. (I don't personally consider him an elite fighter)

Good post, nobody would treat cal as a great champ losing to a prime guy if he got beat by Pav. They woulkd say he was in his first true fight lol. Comical Pav would be overrated in the worst way too. The boxing world would know that cal was a prety good fighter, but fans here are looking through dim lights. Cal has had a proud career. How he ends his career is his choice. Calling him scared to fight a prime fighter at age 36 when he never even turned that guy down is beyond me. The thing is, fighters call out fighters every day, we just get the hand picked ones to talk about here.
