My knowledge about Robinson, which can be verified by boxrec.com. Ray was close to 6'0 tall.

Yeah, my understanding was always that he was around 5.11~6.0
He also looked like it, a tall and lanky guy, he usually was taller then his opponents(from the fights that I have seen)

I think a prime Roy is capable of beating Robinson but a prime Robinson is capable of beating Roy!

So Ray couldnt win a round but Hopkins could win a round. LOL!

Even in Roys prime, you could take him to the ropes the throw bombs at him and all he'd do is block but with Ray, his timing and feints were great that Roy would get hit.

People forget even before he lost to Tarver that Puerto Rican fighter knocked down Roy and had him on ***** street but he was too afraid to finish off Roy.

Roy was great but he and Floyd are in the same boat. At light heavyweight he did nothing.

whats with the 'LOL'? Bernard Hopkins in his prime was an amazing fighter, the fact that he only won a few rounds proves that Jones was a beast. I'd give Hopkins one hell of a chance of beating Ray Robinson to.

Hell, Hopkins at 43 almost won against Joe Calzaghe, as the split decision points out. Hopkins at 43 didn't have the gas to keep going late rounds.

Hopkins would've been KO'd if he were in his prime when he faced SRR, and would've been booooooo'd out of the arena if he were as he is now. Not even in the same class, I'm sorry, buddy. No offense intended.

Also, he didn't "almost win" against Calzaghe. I watched the fight enough times to be able to say, without reservation, that every time I see it, Hopkins looks just a little bit worse. He ain't got the legs to keep up with Calzaghe's work rate, didn't have enough power to do more than achive a flash KD early, before Calzaghe adjusted, fought dirty through most of the fight, and then faked a low blow to get a breather instead of toughing it out (Calzaghe's punch wasn't low that time). And while I can forgive the rest, the dirty fighting tactics I cannot.

Isn't that what I said, I'm not arguing Hopkins lost the fight because he didn't have the stamina AT 43 years old..but I will argue he was rocking Calzaghe pretty good for the first few rounds..AT 43...

No Hopkins would not have been Koed by Robinson, If Jones couldn't even hurt Hopkins than Robinson more or less wouldn't be able to.

you obviously hate Hopkins and purposely underrate him because of his bad ring antic's you dislike. Fortunately for me I don't get caught up in drama and watch it for a fight.

Just because Robinson had more fights doesn't mean he's better.

No, I don't "hate" Hopkins. In fact, I respect the discipline it takes to continue in this sport at his age, but I can't stand to watch him in the ring because of the way he fights. I'm also very realistic about his style and ability. He's never had more than so-so power, but that isn't the point. He wins because he's smart in the ring...always has. Robinson was smarter, had 3x the power, and was much quicker. Robinson by early KO. Don't care whether Hopkins has ever been KO'd or not, he'd be put to sleep by Robinson. That leaping left hook was a nuke.

I know you're a fan, but you're doing exactly what you think I'm doing, but rather overrating him. I'm not the type to allow my personal opinion of a fighter get in the way of how I think they'd do in a matchup. That's why I'm usually right.
