Second, Jones/Trinidad didn't do all that well on PPV and did downright awful at MSG, and that fight featured the most popular fighter in Puerto Rico's history. I agree Jones will outdraw Pavlik, but at this point maybe not by as much as you think.
The chances of a Jones fight being close enough for a 'robbery' over Jones are slim. I also don't think that Jones is actually that bothered if he wins or loses, this is a money fight for both fighters, the main difference being Jones got used to losing long ago. Cynical, I know, but thats what I think.

Anyway I expect the fight to be in the US since I'm sure thats what HBO will want.

I think you have Roy confused with Hopkins. Roy has never wore an advertisement on his back.

I know that DOn King, didn't make a profit on tickets sold at MSC, and that he had to drop prices twice... 500k PPV is only 150K more than Taylor/Pavlik...

Yeah... I'm not sure what's so funny... Pavlik has only grown since then while, Jones has probably faded some

Yeah, Jones is so faded that he fought another washed up fighter and did half a million buys. Pavlik can't do that at his peak. I'd also add that 150k MORE buys isn't something you brush off as small. In fact, the difference is IMMENSE. Think money.

Finally, what you are referring to in terms of live gate is skewed. King was selling front row seats for a ridiculous 15k initially. Of course he had to come down from those numbers.

Now go back and ask yourself how many pay-per-views have done over 500k in the past two years. Go on, do it.

Jones drew 500k PPV sales against Tito; Pavlik drew 300k fighting Jermain Taylor. He's not that well known yet. Calzaghe isn't either; you think Hopkins-Jones would be on regular HBO?
