He's got the same glass chin as that other typical english coward, Day Haye the Gaymaker.
Amir Khan - Glass chin or not

But I do agree about the chin and that is a serious worry indeed, but the kid has talent and a lot of decent attributes and can only get better.
I think he'll get more powerful as he grows and learns to throw his punches better.
Thomas Hearns started off a boxer and developed his power as he grew and planted his feet more, he always had a weak chin, not as weak as Khans seems but weak nonetheless and Hearns achieved a lot in his career.Comment

Agreed, but Khan isn't feather fisted, he carries a fair whack and can wear opponents down. Even a world class fighter with a great chin would be pushed to keep taking Khans punches round after round repeatedly.

I think this is exactly what Khan needs. He is more naturally talented than Kessler, yes, but first and foremost he needs to learn to fight in a style that suits him and impose it on his opponent. With his speed and accuracy, a technically sound boxing game would be devastating on its own, most opponents wouldn't be able to live with him at all. With a decent fundamental strategy in place he could then work on making that talent useful in the most effective way, by adding to the excellent base he would already have, instead of what he does now which is basically rely on his speed and size to bail him out after sloppy work.
I really think if Khan adopted Kessler's style he would become a very serious force very quickly.Comment

I think you underrate Kessler. Have you seen him in the Andrade fight? In that one in particular he boxes up on his toes, in and out, perfectly executed shots, very fast, really excellent in fact. Far from robotic, just technically good. He is also very patient and just waits for his speed and power to tell on his opponent.

I just meant robotic in terms of compared to Khan. Kessler is a very good fighter, but I disagree with this to a certain extent.
Kesslers style would expose his chin, I think if his chin is as bad as I think it is, then he needs to improve his defense and box behind the jab and let fighters come to him and wait for them to make a mistake. He needs to be a counter puncher rather than coming forward and pressurising.
But he does need a different style that much is certain.Comment

I do see what you're saying though, a counterpunching style would be good for Khan, but I don't think its truly in his nature. Seriously though, if you really want to see what I mean then check out the Andrade fight (if you haven't) and imagine Amir Khan doing exactly the same. To my mind it would be a frightening prospect.Comment

I love the guy, But his chin is complete ****e.
But that doesn't mean he can't win a world title, Its not impossible to win a world title with a glass chin, In fact, Not hard at all.
His chin isn't as bad as Wladimir Klitschko, The undisputed champion of the supreme division, The division where one punch can end the fight ...
Like Wlad, He needs a new trainer to turn his style around, Tweak him into a defensive fighter with a controlled aggressive attack from all angles, He needs to learn to step away after he lefts his hands go and not mix it up with heavy punchers.
He learned a **** load in his last fight, More than most his fights put together, He knows he cant be a brawler, He knows he lacks defence and most likely he knows he cant take much of a punch, Buddy would be a good new trainer in my opinion, Roger Mayweather probably wants nothing to do with him but if he does, That would be a good option also.
I hope he doesn't sick with Powell though, People have said Dean will teach him a lot about defence, Stepping off punches, Slipping punches etc.. But if thats true, What was he doing in the last fight? Brawling with a tough veteran puncher in Gomez? Dean cant fight for him, Nobody can but i don't think Powell should be the man to try and turn his defence around.Comment
