The Unexplainable Leap? Pavlik Moves From 8th to 6th On Most P4P Lists!

Kessler beat over 30 "Gary Locketts". His whole career was against Gary Locketts. Why does he get so much credit for doing that?

You get on the P4P list by knocking out the undisputed Middleweight champ, not by beating some bums and losing to your first decent opponent.

Kessler has beaten pretty good opposition in Mundine, Beyer, Andrade, Siaca and Lucas, and the 'decent' opponent who beat him is P4P #2 in the world right now. Before losing to Calzaghe, he like Pavlik is now was a champ in his division. I really wish I didn't have to continue reading these ill informed opinions about so-called bums, if you are a boxing fan you should really know better.

Regarding Pavliks P4P listing, I simply do not share the assessment that Jermain Taylor is this incredible win. He beat Hopkins yes, but did not look good doing so and won by default more than anything else over a Hopkins who could no longer find the workrate for MW. Because I don't rate Taylor that highly, and even if I did because he is just one opponent, I think Pavlik is too high in the P4P lists. Its just my opinion.

Another thing about P4P ratings, is when did they become almost totally based on titles etc etc? We already HAVE titles to tell us that. I thought the whole point was to say which fighter would beat which fighter if they were the same weight? This is the most compelling reason of all to rank Kessler above Pavlik.

Quite simply Mikkel Kessler is one of the most talented SMWs I've seen. He is fast, boxes on his toes, has plenty of power, moves well and in general executes the game of "boxer-puncher" almost to perfection. Compare this with Kelly Pavlik, about whom the stereotype, although it is a stereotype, also happens to be true. Pavlik is slow, one dimensional and relies almost completely on simple two punch combinations and comes directly forward. He is flat footed, does not move well, and in short if he didn't have decent power would not be P4P material at all. I would pick Kessler over him all day every day and without hesitation, and thats why Kessler should, in reality, be above Kelly Pavlik on the P4P lists.
