People forget that before he dropped his hands and got knocked out, Peden was on the verge of being stopped on body punches.

Anybody who saw that fight wouldn't doubt that for a minute. However I was shocked when I read that Campbell got stopped in the rematch. I never saw it because it wasn't on American TV as far as I know.

Most people who talk about the first fight have only seen the short Youtube clip. Here is Peden's recollection of what had happened.

“He got me with a couple of shots that really hurt,” he said ringside after the fight. “I thought, I couldn’t take another body shot like that and then he just dropped his hands, stuck his chin out and I went for it.”

Foolish, but thats the past. I'd say that Juan Diaz is a better fighter than Peden. Just as I'd say Sam Peter is a better fighter than Corrie Sanders. That stuff happens, its up to the fighters to learn from those mistakes.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Campbell was stopped on cuts in the rematch. He was cut over both eyes in that fight, once by a headbutt that was incorrectly ruled by a punch early, then a more severe cut by a clean right hand over his left.

Fox Sport showed the entire first fight on tape delay. I remember that Kellerman was one of the announcers.

One Punch could give us the details of the rematch if he sees this.

Terrible referee. Nate was deducted points for phantom low blows. And Peden's head butts were ruled as punches. The ref brought the doc up 5 times trying to get the fight stopped. In spite of the deductions and everything, Nate was only down one point on one card, and 2 points on the others. The stoppage on cuts was total bs.
