Should Khan re-sign with Warren or get a new promoter?

It seems to me that Frank Warren is the perfect promoter to have if you are a good fighter but not top 5 in your division. He does a good job of building up a decent-at-first-glance record for his fighters and choosing opponents that they will beat. His relationship with the WBO means that he can get his fighters title shots that they don't deserve (ie. Lockett).

Alex Arthur is a perfect example. No disrespect to the guy, but thanks to Warren 'misunderstanding' Guzman's visa situation, he has gotten Arthur a world title without him having to fight for it. Arthur will probably sell out the biggest location that Edinburgh has to offer while fighting low quality opponents. As an added bonus JMM, Guzman and Pacquiao moving up means that the division is pretty empty right now so he could easily reign for a few years, or at least until Warren decides to let one of his other fighters win the title (ie. Kevin Mitchell).

I guess what I think is that Khan has the potential to succeed at the highest level. I think if he fought the top 7-8 guys at LW he would beat some, lose to others, and have a good reputation at the end of it. I think that some British fighters get too much criticism on here for the quality of their record when they have fought the best that a bad division has to offer. But with Khan he is in the deepest division in boxing.

Maybe Khan will never be that good. But his speed and power combined with his dodgy chin mean that he is always likely to be in exciting fights, so the worst case scenario is that he has a few mega fights that are really entertaining. Katsidis just lost by KO in a FOTY candidate, but his next fight is against another top guy. That kind of career would be better than having him win a paper title and not fight the best. I would honestly rather have him lose to the best fighters than never fight them.

Fighters like Castillo, Casamayor, Corrales and Freitas fought each other. All won some and lost some, but I consider all to have better reputations now than if they had not fought each other.

While you would have to give Campbell and Casamayor the edge over Khan right now, they are both getting on a bit and could be ready to go. Pac, JMM and Guzman previously fought several divisions below 135 and Khan's size advantage means that he would be able to put up a decent fight at the very least.

In my opinion Khan should sign with GBP. It would be easier for him to get worldwide recognition and secure fights against the big names.

It depends. If he wants to go places fairly quick no, if not then yes. I will say yes because even though i slate Warren a lot. The Limond and Gomez fights were stern tests.
