Calzaghe is a bad fight for Pavlik, Joes style is naturally to move on the outside and away on the right, away from the bread and butter right hand of Pavlik. The first 3 rounds would be good contact, then Calzaghe with his speed and jabbing will move away around round 5-6 and Pavlik won't be able to catch him. By round 7-8 when Calzaghe has worked out Pavlik's style like he does with all fighters on the fly, he'll lower his guard and jab away all night long. Pavlik will be chasing, Joe will pull away.

Hopkins was well known to have a "secret weapon" when exploiting south paws, the problem Hopkins faced was that Joe unlike any other south paw fighter adapts on the fly, there is no master plan with Calzaghe...he purely adapts his style in the ring on the night which makes it difficult to beat him, as boxers watch his videos and train to what they think Calzaghe will do, they're always wrong.
